Another day, another commute. I've ridden the FJR every day since I got it last Wednesday except on Sunday for some reason. Haven't driven my truck to work in about 3 weeks (rode the XJ or WR prior to the FJR). At a 53 mile round trip, this is a good thing. 3rd tank of gas in today. Mileage seem to be settling around 43.5 MPG with traffic and a puberty-like throttle hand. New tires didn't show up yesterday. Current status: Moving Through Network - In Transit to Next Facility, Arriving Late

This morning I also moved my ancient Zumo 450 over from the XJ. Was dumb and put my phone in the tank bag (instead of on the RAM mount now used by the Zumo) and it overheated in the bag. Whoops.

Oh, and at some point in the last few days I switched to Sport mode and have re-calibrated my wrist. I'll likely keep it there unless it rains and/or I take on a jumpy passenger. Downshifts still need some cleaning up, but nothing scary.

I have a package coming from the UK for my British bike. It landed in the US and cleared customs last week and has been in limbo since. Getting the same message as you from USPS. I feel for ya. I have no clue as to why this is:rolleyes:

All of which has absolutely nothing to do with "What Did You Do To Your FJR Today?" so please refrain from further posts on tariffs, costs, etc. in this thread. We have plenty of space for a new thread, which of course will likely be shut down b/c there's always one or two who go off the deep end and can't maintain a civil keyboard.

Thank you for your understanding.

I just got home after the annual Police Wall 2 Wall Memorial ride with Police from all over Australia along with family and friends attending around 3,500 bikes took part. As promised I took some photos to post. I had the pressure of riding part of the way home with our, NSW assistant commissioner who has a as new Honda ST1300 with a low 7,000 kms on it Brett told me the Honda was 1 of the last 3 imported to Australia. Brett, loves it as you can tell by the way he looks after it. I had lot of great comments about my FJR`s cleanness, along with 1 guy wanting to buy it. It is not for sale by the way. You may spot the 2-R1250RT unmarked Highway Patrol bike behind the SUV lol

My tires are lost in Indianapolis after being a few days late, so didn't get those on today. Hopefully they'll show up tomorrow?

I did tackle the rear brake pivot clean and lube. Looked daunting, but was actually pretty easy. And fairly gunky.

Even though my Michelin PR4 rear had a few thousand miles left (at 12,800 miles), I replaced it with a Pirelli Angel GT as I am strongly considering selling my FJR this fall or early spring. It's amazing how nice a new tire feels!

It was last weekend, not today. But i finally changed both headlights. The left side was pretty easy..........the right required a thorough reading of the professional cusser's thesaurus to find the proper language to use. Here is a picture of two of the most useless tools I had to use. The left hand thumb has arthritis and the right hand thumb had the nail ripped 3/4 of the way off a week earlier. But i got it done!

Hemostats! Long handled, 1 curved and 1 straight, make a world of difference.

Got my helmet locks, keyed them to each other (they're the wrong offset to use my ignition key, bummer), and mounted them up with the brackets from Scott. The right side was slightly tricky to get the nulock nut on the back, but curved hemostats helped (speaking of...). The left side was tricky to work the bolt and bracket around the ES rear suspension line, but it was one of those deals where you fiddle and swear for a while and then suddenly everything lines up and goes in easy.

My tires finally arrived. My buddy should be able to mount them up Wednesday (so I'll pull wheels tomorrow evening and ride one of the other bikes Wednesday).

Put in a new fuel pump. Still a no fire. I think the next step is to remove/clean the fuel rail out. Might as well replace the injectors while I’m in there.

Don’t let your bike sit for 3+ yrs is the lesson learned
At most get the injectors cleaned, don't replace OEM injectors unless they are actually broken, and then get more OEM injectors.

Thank you.
I have been reading over various threads, and have learned that injectors normally don’t go bad. My thought is I pumped a bunch of nasty/rusty fuel downstream when I tried (unsuccessfully) to start this thing back in April.

First would appreciate you putting your bike in your profile... but I'll guess Gen2 or 3 for now. There is an inlet filter at the pump, teeny stuff may get through, but...... remove your injectors and inspect. There is a screen in each one, see if you think stuff got through..... remove the screens, give the injectors a good rinse with a solvent, WD40 (mostly naptha), carb cleaner or injector cleaner if you like. Hard to hurt them, but basically flush them out. If you're going to clean them, then there are some DIY methods, but I'd have professionals do it where they flow test before and after and give you that report.... then you know what's been what with your injectors.

You could pull that pump again and remove/flush the fuel pressure regulator (or replace it), even run the pump in a bucket of Varsol or naptha or gasoline and see if it's pumping fuel. I recall you did an evaporust flush, all good, but there may be residual crap now plugging up the inlet filter.... clean that again anyway.

I'm assuming the fuel pump runs for 2 seconds when you turn on the ignition with kill switch on.........

My ole '14 paid me a couple of visits in the past coupla days.... some general maintenance, flush and bleed clutch and brakes (it needed it!), fixed running lights, added a heated gear outlet, and put new shoe on the front (RS4).

As a point of reference my current bike is a 2014 FJR1300A, when I got it last October it was licensed for 2018 and by the accounts of the sons of the owner, who had passed, the bike had last been ridden in 2017 not long after it had last been licensed, and it had been sitting outside in Midlands Texas under a breezeway for something like 7 years with most of a tank of gas. I cleaned out the tank with Evaporust and luckily I had a whole working fuel pump assembly from a wrecked FJR1300 I just swapped in so I didn't have to mess with that, but those fuel injectors have still never been out (although I have run some PEA fuel system cleaner through it) and I have ridden that bike as my primary means of transportation for almost a year now.

As Ray mentioned above if you did get crap into the injectors by running the pump, LIKELY it is just the little screens on top of each injector that got crap into them. Pulling the fuel rail, cleaning those screens, and maybe cleaning the injectors with a bit of spray cleaner is likely all you need to do, although if you wanted to go way overboard sending them off to a professional injector cleaning company who will flow test them and give you back a verified flow variance report wouldn't hurt.

Now Friday and almost a week after I returned from the Wall 2 Wall Ride, so thought it might be a good time to spend the morning detailing the bike. I may be stupid but I find something relaxing about doing stuff with the bike with great results that make the bikes as clean and good looking as an old bike can be.I did not take any photos of the under seat and Frame but that has also been done lol :whistle::rolleyes::geek:
