A few years ago it was 3-400, which may or may not include parts.. which are the cheapest part of the deal.

 

Half the labour is getting the forks off the bike to start with..... can you take them in?

 

Order a Seal Mate and follow the direction. I have an 08 with 66,000 MILES and seals are original.

 

In my area $225 for labor plus parts.

If you have the stock springs in there, then I'd install the Traxxion plug and play spring upgrade kit.......
There's a tech day coming up in the PNW sometime I'm sure, those guys will help. Likely won't be announced until the spring.

 

They always recommend "upgrading" springs when the first question should be "how much do you weigh?" If like me you're a lightweight, no "upgrade" is necessary. Save your money.

 

True enough, but playing the averages most adults riding these bikes need to upgrade the springs.

210 needs new springs.

 

If I could get down to 210 (250 now) I would happy dance !!!!!

 

The suspension is more or less designed for the 160-170 lbs. guy or gal.... all you have to do is measure sag and you'll know.
I did up a suspension matrix and it's posted here........ it is not the be all and end all of suspension discussion but a good general starting point.....

A 200 lb. guy needs fork springs of about .95-1.0 spring rate.... straight rate of course. The OEM's are weak and progressive. FYI, Traxxion's fork spring kit contains 1.1 springs. As a testimonial, I installed these at the insistence of a 175 lbs. guy, warned him they may be too harsh..... he raves about them, so no harm in going a tad higher rate it would appear. I put them in my FJR, me 195 lbs...... I thought they were just fine also.
As for rear shock, now that's where you have to be careful not to overspring......

I paid $400 a little over a year ago at an independent shop to rebuild the forks. Yamaha dealer would have been more. I also upgraded to Traxxion 1.1 springs (not included in the price I mentioned). I've lost some weight since then, down to 170lb now and would still do the stiffer springs.

 

My front left fork is leaking. What’s the average cost to have them rebuilt. I’m not willing to take that on myself. It’s a 2006 FJR with about 60k.

Hi Patrick , I had EXACTLY the same scenario bought the seals and the metal clips from partzilla , local motorcycle shop took 300$ for labor + fork oil FYI
