My 2003 has been difficult to upshift into 3rd and 4th lately. Downshifts are OK.
I knew the oil was past due for a change, so I did that last weekend.
The shifting improved. During normal acceleration, it clicks nicely up into 2nd, but it is still a little harder to shift into third and fourth but it's not bad.
However, if I get on it hard, it still shifts to 2nd fine, but refuses to click into third with or without the clutch. I have to slow way down, downshift to first and back up to second and then third under normal, gentle acceleration.
It has also been giving me the clunk going from neutral to first when I start out for the day.
My next move is to replace the old clutch and brake fluids. Also long overdue.
While that may help with clutch disengagement, I still think it should upshift without clutch. I've never had a problem dong that on the FJRs. I typically use the clutch for all shifts, but I have done it without.
Anyone here experienced these symptoms?
