So the previous owner of my 2015 had "mirror riser blocks" installed the last time he had service done. Don't know where he got the blocks nor how much they cost, but the installation labor charge from the dealer was $99.

I have no idea how common this mod is, but I have to say I'm grateful for these things pretty much daily. I've got an awesome view next to/behind me and barely catch my knuckles and maybe an elbow occasionally in the mirrors.

Do a lot of folks run these? I did a quick search and everything about risers was for handlebars.

Lot's of guys who want to keep the stock mirrors use them. Lot's of guys will also use first gen FZ1 mirrors for even better rearward view.

I don't think I've ever heard those called risers before. Extenders, specifically mirror extenders would be a better term. And the fart smeller above me provided the correct link as to where you would purchase them. I have them on a couple of my FJRs that I bought that had them already installed. I also have a couple FJRs that don't have them. They help somewhat but I'm not convinced they make a huge difference. At least for me.

I have them on my '13 but not on my '07. The make a big enough difference to be noticeable but still allow me to block following headlights at night.

Yes, I added these SW-Motech Mirror Extension Profile - 40 mm - SVL.06.501.11000/B to my 2019ES in March 2021. Helps a lot with seeing behind the bike.

I put them on my 09 Couldnt tell much difference Went with the FZ1 mirrors on my 13 The FZ1 mirrors work better for me Just my .02

Thanks for the proper name. I was just going by the work order the P.O. left in with the manual. For me, I have all the visibility around myself that I need, but I'm glad other have found other solutions that work for them.

On 2013-up, be aware you have a very brittle thin cast mirror stay, so do your absolute best to not drop the bike. Your mirrors are sticking out more and ....... do I need to say more?
If it were me, I'd go with the FZ1 or Emgo equivalent, as the pivot is closer to the body and they fold up much easier if you drop the bike.

I've had a set of these mirror extenders on my '05 for nearly 10 yrs.... I remember they were expensive at around $70 (they ARE nicely machined blocks of plastic). However, for these GEN1 bikes, as others have mentioned above, the FZ1 mirrors probably work better and are less expensive (but I'll stick with what I have).

I think folks need to take into account other folks' size. A 230+ individual will likely find them a minimal improvement and may want different mirrors. Seating position, i.e., forward lean closer to the mirrors vs. upright farther away also makes a significant difference. For me at 190 and more upright, these extenders are just what I need.

I do the Emgo first Gen FZ1 mirrors and dropped my bike on the left side almost a year ago, I have drop bars but can confirm the left mirror hit the ground and folded right over, no damage to the stay.

I am about 250lbs with fairly wide shoulders and hands with bars that don't have much rise (if any) from stock, but do have a fair amount of pullback, and I wouldn't want my mirrors any further in.

As a side point the FZ1 mirrors work kind of like cat whiskers with the side bags and rear drop bars on.

Yeah. I am 6ft 200 with wide shoulders, so I need mirrors moved out further than some.

Plus how much night riding I did made a difference. I used to commute at night so having the ability to block headlights behind me with elbows overrode the need to see directly behind myself, hence the "no extenders" on my '07.

Yes, they are fugly. I bought a set but once I held them up to the bike I decided against for just that reason.

Yup, not even a question there the stock mirrors 100% look better.

I noticed that several several several of you guys are saying that you have more than one FJR, what is this about FJRs, you cannot have just one? And then there's you, ScooterG, I think you mentioned about 6 different bikes. How many do you have anyway? And are they cheaper, by the dozen? I'm working on just getting one, and I think it will have to be the 2014!!

Didn't know about these, but I'm going to check them out. Definitely look really nice compared to those homely FZ1 mirrors. Now your yellow helmet....not so much.
