Hi, New member from Vermont. I'm looking at a 2003 FJR1300A next weekend and was wondering if I could get some tips on what to look out for if anything.

My first concern is that I'm 230lbs. 6'3" with a 34" inseam and long arms and I'm not even sure if the bike will fit me?

Bike has a dynojet power commander installed, L&R sliders, Corbin touring seat & High touring windshield, GIVI Maxia Monkey with extra stop-signal and passenger backrest, standard RAM mount ball for your equipment in the center of the fork, 12V power outlet, L&R extra panorama mirrors, Philips white headlamps.

Should I be concerned with the dynojet or be prepared to do some tuning? Bike is priced to sell @ $5000- and has 30,000 miles.

Thank you for any advice or opinions! Either buying this bike or a '03 ZZR1200-

Hi tola,

Welcome to the forums. There's loads of advice on here which should help you out.

If you look back a few pages you should see a link I put up about ergonomics where you can see how you would fit.

I'm 6' 1" & 33" in-seem & I'm fine. Seat can be put up 1" & fitting a 190/55 size rear tyre will lift the back if needs be. Also bars can be adjusted or raised.

Go for a spin & I hope you'll enjoy it. It depends what you what to do with the bike in the long term. I think the bike's the best combination going. But then I'm biased.

My buddy has the zzr and it's nice too but for me it's to much lean forward. Nice bike and fast but I enjoy larger wind screen and more upright riding position. That said mine looks like it has risers on it maybe from factory. Good luck in your decision and once you purchase enjoy.

The power commander shouldnt give you any trouble I've got the original model and it still works fine.
FJR or ZZR.. Slightly better handling and top end ZZR but the 12 is a stop gap bike and has a few buzzes and rattles.
FJR is a sorted bike and the 03 US model is the most sporty shorter swingarm and gearing and doesnt suffer from chocolate cam shafts like Kawasaki's.
