Truth is the black and gold does look good. But I've owned a couple of black bikes and they show every spec of dirt. They need a bath after every ride. I'm old and grumpy now so my OCD about keeping it clean has gone away.
Personally I love a black motorcycle

... would never choose to have a black car or truck, though

There are motorcycles that really look good in black and are suited to it. Some were signature black if you will. Bandit good example. The modern bikes to me aren't really. They could do way better. I like a little colour, tastefully done.

I got a new company car every 2-4 years depending on mileage. Everyone said to get a black car, l wanted one, and l did. The reason is that you found out how COOL a black car was but a PITA to clean so that got the black out of your system to actually own one. LOL
I always say I love OTHER people's black vehicles 😊

My dad had a black Oldsmobile when I was young. Black maybe looks OK on classy looking cars, but I never wanted black when I saw in later years what others had to do to keep them clean. Nobody I went to high school with had a black car. I don't find any of them attractive these days. A little colour please. Now, I will say the '08-'09 FJR's look good in black if clean. The current plethora of black/gray bikes to me just shows a lack of imagination, especially when the nice coloured ones sold so well when they were introduced.

When I bought my '015 I didn't jump for joy at the Liquid Graphite color. But I didn't think it looked bad either. Color was pretty low on my priority list. Bike condition and price were #'s 1 & 2 on the list.

We did have a summer a couple of years ago with a heatwave, my van clocked 42c one afternoon. Thankfully it had aircon 😂 the only other time I’ve experienced those temps in the UK is inside a race car.

Nothing like a black car or bike after being left directly in the Texas sun on a 110F day to make you rethink your life choices. White is my color preference down here.
You don't like fried balls? I hear it's a good contraceptive. 🤣 Out of curiosity, have you gone through the trouble of switching to a light-colored seat? As a five year old, my Dad had a red Buick with red leather seats. OMG you didn't want to sit on those things with shorts... 🔥

Lol nice? I think that is my first time hearing 110F/43C weather described as "nice" 🤣🤣🤣
At a 6'1 and a buck-fifty pounds with all my gear except backpack, choice between really hot or really cold, I'd pick hot any day. I can live without A/C. But I NEED heat. I can't ride in weather like this (20s-30s Fahrenheit) for more than twenty minutes or a half-hour without risking frost-bitten fingers. On the flip side weather wise, I can ride as far and fast as I please. I've always had black helmets and black seats.

That said, first job of a biker is to be NOTICED... aka SEEN and/or HEARD. Light colors promote that. Absolutely nothing wrong with black; aesthetically it looks good. But for the benefit of heat and visibility, light colors are better.

Most of my gear is very light colored.

Honestly this time of year is some of the best riding down here:
