I am searching for a *searchable* PDF version of both the FJR1300 (Gen 3) User Manual and also Service Manual.

Unfortunately the official User Manual from the Yamaha web site is not searchable :-(

I have also purchased both the paperback versions of the Yamaha FJR1300 service manual and Haynes Yamaha FJR1300 Service and Repair Manual: 2001‑2013 -- unfortunately both are printed versions. I really would prefer an electronic version (eg PDF) that is searchable.

Thank you -- Cameron

They are ******* illegal, the question shouldn't be asked on a Forum.

It's a breach of copyright. I've only seen 1 official FJR manual in pdf that was supplied to a country dealer in outback South Australia.

Go buy a paper manual, much much better.

Owners Manuals are available for download off the Yamaha site.

Ken -- SERIOUSLY...!!!??? As you can see from my post, I have legally purchased all the paper printed versions of the manuals. I am searching for a legally purchased edition of the Service Manual (and Users Manual, if available) in electronic version which I can use to search by keyword, etc.
If you read my post you would have noticed that I have purchased and legally own all the printed manuals, I just want (prefer) an electronic version...

...common man...

No there are no legal copies of the service manual available.

And as I said I've only seen 1 official FJR manual. pdf cd given to an outback dealer.

If you are desperate make your own and buy a scanner. I did a pdf of things important to me and stored them on my Zumo originally.

Never needed it. My FJR's have never played up on tour..

Being a disabled pensioner I could do such a thing now?

I suppose it's legal making a legitimate copy for yourself??

I scanned my 1978 XS1100 owners manual for Yamaha to use on their site.

I think it's the workshop manual that's wanted not the Owners Manual

The service manual is not worth much, but there is little else

I have a 2016 FJR and bought the official service manual. May be good as a reference, but I found it the worst written manual I ever had (count 50 years of bikes).

There are exploded parts diagrams that are difficult to read; wiring diagrams that require a super magnifying glass to read (and the pages are mostly blank); and really unhelpful instructions such as:

REMOVING THE SIDE COWLINGS
The following procedure applies to both of the side cowlings.
1. Remove:
• Side cowling "1"
TIP:
Unhook the projections on the side cowling from the front cowling.

INSTALLING THE SIDE COWLINGS
1. Install:
• Side cowling (left) "1"

In other words, useless. With instructions like that, it is no wonder my bike came from the dealer with tabs broken on the front panel inner cowling.

Was yours an official one from Yamaha Corp or one of the knock-offs that we keep warning people about? If it was digital it wasn't a Yamaha-authorized consumer product. To date no electronic version has been published and sold by Yamaha for consumers. There are some dealership version out there that employees have pirated but...

The manual is the official Yamaha service manual. print copy.

There are no other sections in the manual where I could find the the cowling removal procedure. I is supposed to be in Section 4, but per my post, nothing is stated other than "remove cowling".

Right you are. Gen3 has snap features, so get yourself a plastic pry stick or what's known as a fid at a stained glass store, or one of those plastic gasket scrapers (and dull the edge). It's like eating your Rice Crispies in the morning..... "Snap Crackle Pop".... you'll cringe a bit the first time, but it'll be OK.
