Was less than 24 hours from buying one, and it got sold. So I'm looking for FJRs, preferably within 3 hours of Chicago. Ready to buy, cash on hand.
Very true, been looking around for private sellers (I actually loathe the thought of buying from a dealership now). Found a small handful within a couple of hours from me. I knew the blue years, and figured 12 and 16 were out of the price range. 2007's Black Cherry is growing on me, though, saw a couple of examples on Facebook Marketplace, threw out feelers. Looked at CycleTrader tonight, but the better deals are on FBMP right now. 😕2005, 2006, 2012, 2016, pick your poison. In that price range, I'd expect you're looking at an 05 or an 06, very different bikes. I wouldn't let the color dictate your choice. There's three different generations of bikes listed above. I'd take a later model gen 2 over a gen1, and a gen three overall. I'd review the Comparo to see what the differences are, they're pretty dramatic. A bike that fries your nutz in the summer time (unless some previous owner fixed it). A second generation bike that added some very cool features, but beware of spider bites. A third generation that added heated grips and cruise control as standard features, Gen 3.X added a sixth gear. Do your homework and search cycletrader for private seller deals. That's what I'd do if I had cash burning a hole in my pocket. Just sayin, you got lots of options, color is only one of them. Good luck, Baz

I'd studied that PDF like I had a test coming up on it. Happy to say I found a 2007 at a good price today, & now have it in my garage.TWP,
Here are the changes from one model year to the next, for FJRs. Comparo:
Download the .PDF and save it. Zoom 'way in a few times, to make it readable. Ask here about any unclear items.
P.S. Never tell how much you want to pay. Any seller will immediately raise the price of the bike to your limit.![]()
You were so right about this...the blue fell through, but I fell in love with Black Cherry anyway.Just sayin, you got lots of options, color is only one of them. Good luck, Baz
