Funny you should mention that Big! I did check, and tattoos are generally exempt from copyright infringement. And as long as the recipient does not use the tat for financial gain, then infringement violations are generally not pursued.
Additionally, the fair use doctrine allows the use of portions of a copyrighted work for parody, criticism, commentary or educational purposes.
Generally speaking, the copyright holder must prove the copied work has a negative effect on the work's value or potential market.
Conversely, one might argue that the recipient is advertising that product for free and thus is being taken advantage of by the copyright holder.
All I know is that the entire outside of the calf hurt the whole time I was getting inked!!
