I bought some ammo at a bait and tackle store. I had to do some explaining to the wife when the CC statement said $300.00 to "Hookers"

No way I can list all of the various pieces of junk I have owned through out the years but I can list off some of my favorites and the ones that made me into the squid I am today.
Most memorable bike I ever owned was the Yami TW 200 as a kid. I took that thing to places nobody should have ever tried to take a bike and I beat the hell out of it but it would never die.
My brother in law gave me his 80 something Gasgas 325 trials bike when I was about 13-14ish and that was one of my favorite machines of all time, it let me get into places in the Adirondacks that most dirtbikes/ATV's would never have a shot of getting to. I once got escorted a few miles out of the ADK park in the 90's by DEC for taking it on showshoe trails. Good times.
If it had a CR, XR, XRL or XT sticker on the side in the front of its cc's I owned more then one at some point. I saved every dollar earned and lunch money in secret to buy a buddies uncles CR 500 because my parents were adamant that I should never have a bike that powerful. That was the first time I was forced to respect a bike because it will kill you. Only bike that reminded me of it was a friends CR 250 that was a pure race bike but I felt more in control on the CR 250's then I ever did on the 500.
Shadows, CB750's-900's a phase where I thought trading my CBR 600 at the time for a Gixxer 750 was a good idea. It wasn't and I stand firm in my belief that Suzukis (and Kawi's) are trash.
A CBR 1100 XX I lost my license on. Great bike for someone not 22 years old and invincible.
Went through a Supermoto phase before it was cool. Had a DRZ (trash) and a YZF and then spent a bunch of time at the Vermont DMV and money converting a CR with Off Road title to an on road vehicle. Sold it for a great profit and bough a Ducati HyperMotard because I thought they looked cool. They indeed look cool but that's about all it had going for it. Bought a Husqvarna SMR 510 and had a lot of fun with that lil bad boy and still own it. Had a 03 GW 1800 and loved it but had a kiddo and thought I was giving the bikes up. 5 years later and I needed the wind again. I wanted a sportbike engine on a bike that could be ridden the distance of the GW. Here I am.

I had an '86 V65 Magna bought second hand in 1997 (? I think) with 3 K miles on it. I added about 70K miles onto it before I traded it in for the (then) all new 2003 FJR1300. I loved the sound and toque of that 1100cc V4. Never had any issues with it - I just wanted a more suitable bike for long distance rides with my wife as a pillion and luggage space. The FJR1300 fit that bill perfectly, and since last year I am riding a 2006 model which I bought with very low miles.
There's a strong Yamaha pattern here...

I can tell you learned your lesson from the DRZ. Mine was shit too and all my buddies had the same problems.
I grew up in the dirt, but switched to street legal models in 2006.

Its hard to beat a Ninja 400 right now. Used price is surprisingly reasonable. Insurance price is good. Sporty performance with a billion replacement/aftermarket parts. Only drawback is if he is a taller chap.

You might want to start a new thread asking for starter bike recommendations. I always suggest an SV650.

I envy your CB 750. Such an iconic bike that is only just now starting to receive the attention it deserves.
