It appears I am like a lot of members and own multiple bikes. My 1st was a Norton 650 which my father ordered me to sell and get something smaller , like a Vespa. We settled on a Yamaha Santa Barbara 125.
The year was 1960. Since I have owned maybe 35 or 40 bikes. I sold a 2013 FJR July 10th which brought me down to 7. FJR's owned include, 04, 08, 10, 12, 13,& 14.
Currently in the garage are
2014 FJR es
2017 BMW R 1200 RT
1982 Kawasaki 550 GPz
1976 R90S
1976R90/6
1973R75/5 toaster
1971 Suzuki TS 185
To a lot of non riders it sounds crazy, but it is a lot cheaper than " girlfriends" !!!
This was interesting to record and I'm sure nobody else cares.

Never had a BMW but thinking of trading my 1974 CB550 for my friends 2005 K1200S. Funny Nada has these two listed at almost the exact value. He is 76 and never rides the BMW. Only has 2500 miles on it. We just did all the recalls for that year and new tires. The CB550 was completely rebuilt be me. I also restored 2 of his Z1900's so he knows he is getting a good deal also. Never owned a Harley either. Riding a friends once or twice was enough for me.

GTR1400 In my opinion, a better looking bike than the FJR, but not quite as comfortable. Sorry 😊

I tend to keep my bikes for a while:

1966 Yamaha YL1 100cc TwinJet (Used like a dirt-bike)
1970 Yamaha CT3 175cc Enduro (Finally got a real dirt-bike)
1979 Yamaha SR500 (Thumper: aka - Gasoline-powered paint-shaker, but I rode the hell out of it.)
1996 Yamaha PW80 Trail Bike (Daughter's bike - great little kids bike)
1996 Yamaha RT100 Trail Bike (Son's bike - Inexpensive, but functionally compromised in lots of areas. Last choice for riding, if other bikes were available)
1996 Yamaha XT225 (Wife's bike. Great bike to train new riders. In my opinion, may be the best all-around motorcycle ever made.)
1997 KTM RXC 620 LC4 R-XCe (Great bike. Maintenance Monster.)
2002 Suzuki DRZ-250 (capable, reliable, low-maintenance, fun little bike)
2002 Yamaha YZF-R6 (At 17K RPM, it screams like a 90's F1 car! Every ride was exciting. I miss it, but my back and wrists don't)
2005 Yamaha WR450F (Holy Sh!t! Ultimate dirt bike! More capability than I could ever use, but tons of fun trying. Pro Circuit TI-4 Header/Exhaust can wake the dead. Another Maintenance Monster)
2018 Yamaha FJR1300A (Current road bike & still loving it!)
2020 Yamaha WR250R (OK, this may be even better than the XT225)
2021 Yamaha Tenere 700 (Still farkling it out for Idaho back-country & long-distance rides)

I had an ‘05 for years. A bad c-spine forced the sale. If it weren’t for that I’d probably still have it. My wife has been riding an ‘06 (purchased new) for over 60K miles It’s the best bike she’s ever owned. My complaints: insufficient dealer coverage in the US and the 05 was the first year and it had multiple clutch issues (recalls, tech bulletins…). Theses were fixed in 06. Oh! One more issue. The fuel gauge ‘strip’ goes bad every few years and it’s a bitch to replace. The fix? Tape over the light & use a trip meter.

Motorcycles I've owned
1975 Yamaha TX750
1980? Honda CX500 Custom
1982? Honda GL500 Silver Wing
1985 Yamaha XVZ12DN Venture Royale (1200 cc)
1999 Kawasaki Concours ZG1000-A14
2001 Kawasaki ZRX1200R
2003 Triumph Sprint ST (955 cc)
2005 BMW K1200S
2008 Yamaha FJR1300A

I stand corrected I meant to say 2005 on that BMW K1200S. Its a gamble but I have heard some good and bad things(mostly good) about that year. People seam to like them. Yes we just replaced that fuel sender. I will have to check out that clutch issue. haven't heard to much on that.
