40 thousand that is. I haven’t been posting here at all lately but I still check in once in awhile. Been hanging around in some different forums. Barely been riding at all in the past 6 months. Fell out of love a bit plus winter. I’ve gotten out a couple times the last few days and had some fun. Hard to stay off the throttle though. Anywho, figured I’d drop in, say hello and post a couple pictures. Stay safe all.

Well done. Gotta keep changing up your routes unless they are really really fun. That will burn you out fast. My current problem is that making it out west to explore new roads will take almost a week just to get there😆

Yea, same old roads I’ve ridden a hundred times. Don’t have time to go anywhere so just short local stuff and too many other cars on the road. Jersey isn’t a great place for motorcycling.

Aroxx,
Great looking bike that's just broken in! I've gone through periods where I've not ridden much and I've eventually realized something's missing. I just turned 60 and bought a 2023 FJR, I'm making it a point to ride more. Did a 144 mile ride on Sunday and the rest of the afternoon was spent thinking about it with a smile on my face.
Great pics, thanks for sharing.

Thanks! Yes, 40k and she's running like a top. I've been thinking of selling but don't want to regret it since it's bought and paid for. Not causing much harm sitting in the garage. I'm also leaning towards getting on the track so a different bike would be better suited to that. Although, the FJR is still a lot of fun on the track and I can easily ride it to and from. I'll just let the situation develop and see what happens.

I've been strongly considering doing a track day as well, but on one of my other bikes. 650lbs isn't a lot of fun to go from 140 down to 40mph to enter turn #1 at Summit Point. I think doing a track day on the FJR would be a great learning experience for a session or two but I have an RC51 and a V4 Panigale SP that are much better suited for the track. I sold my old 2008 FJR and regretted it. Like you said, bought and paid for....and yours looks really clean.

I’ve had the FJR on the track a couple times during the open track part of a street course. It was still hella fun. 😬

Also, for full mileage context, I bought the bike Spring of 2019 with 18k on it. I put most of the miles on it 2019-2021 including two ChampSchool classes then really slowed down. I thought I was doing pretty good considering I put more miles on it in 3 seasons than it saw in the first 10 years. My riding skills have increased exponentially since I got the FJR and got more serious about my riding.

Right or wrong, I always tell new riders that they'll learn more about controlling their motorcycle doing a single track day then they would in a year of street riding. I'm sure those Champ Schools were amazing, I'd like to get into one of them someday.

Agreed. I had over a quarter of a million miles under my belt before I hit the track.
I had thought I was some well seasoned experienced rider.
And living in Minnesota doesn't give you much opportunities to learn how to properly navigate a curve.

Now after a few thousand track miles I'm still honing my skills. Headed to Road America this weekend in fact.

Man, that's awesome! Have a blast and be safe.

I thought I was an ok rider after the MSF Beginner and Advanced courses and 15,000 street miles. Then, I did a track day at Summit Point and the weak parts of my riding game hit me upside the head like a brick. This is fun but I SUCK!!!! lol

I credit the MSF courses and track days for keeping me alive, so grateful that I was pointed in that direction by some riders that cared. I try to do the same for the newer riders as well.

Let us know how your Road America weekend goes, please. Good luck!

I cannot recommend the YCRS ChampStreet course enough for beginners and experienced riders. I got better in one afternoon than my prior like 6-7 years riding on my own. Best $500 any rider could spend. They have an online course now as well that is more accessible to everyone.

As far as riding the twisties, or on track (which I'm assuming your referring to)? Lot's of hills, bluffs and the Mississippi river where I live. Fantastic riding area!

Yes there are a few decent roads here and there.
Overall though, they just plain suck.
