Good to hear from the Ferret again. Glad he’s keeping an eye on us. Somebody needs to buy a NT1100 and give us the lowdown. He’s our resident DCT and NT specialist. That is of course assuming Honda decides to bring it to North America.

I absolutely need heated grips and cruise on a bike. For the amount of miles I ride (35-40k/yr) I don’t want to be without them. Can I make do with a throttle lock sure but in this day and age there’s no reason to.

Thanks Donk. Is that you on MCD once in awhile (particularly KTM reviews? lol). I agree with that kind of mileage cruise is a necessity, heck I'm usually 20K a year and used the cruise on my FJR a lot! I don't understand it not being included on the new RBW bikes. Just a switch and some code. Charge us $50 more if you wish.

Stopped by Racers Shell yesterday morning to see the crowd. For those not familiar it’s a gas station on the Beeline near Palm Beach International Raceway that riders frequent on Sunday mornings. Remember I’m not a Kawasaki guy by nature but one of the regulars had a Z900 (new liquid cooled) in black with an aftermarket quarter fairing and a black Kerker exhaust. It was a great looking retro. Very comfortable bike to sit on too. It was lowered and an overall btchin ride.
Ok Lee your turn to say something nice about KTMs :)

Don- I don't know enough about KTMs to comment other than "Nice Orange!"

If the weather holds today, my Z900RS is getting its final mod, a 16t front sprocket. That will help a touch w/highway riding, not that I do 30k a year like you, tho! Got my seat modded by a local shop and still test-sitting that one but overall my mini-UJM/ST is about done, so you know what that means...

I'll say this about my RS: it is one really good looking bike. Love the lines, the paint color/scheme. I find myself sometimes just pulling off the cover and staring at it. This may be the best looking bike I've ever owned.

Re: Racer's Shell- I'm not sure I know where that is, Don. Besides, I thought you had sworn off SoFla?!?!? Wisconsin a little too chilly for ya?

Wife still works in S FL Nov-March so came down to visit her. What’s that saying, happy wife happy life? Other than the Cuban coffee not my favorite place. Rode up to Apalachicola last week, it was nice up there.
Racers Shell is the Shell station on the north side of Beeline Highway just before you get to Palm Beach International Raceway the old Moroso Track. Get there about 10am and there will be anywhere from 30-60 bikes all cool stuff Japanese and Euro almost no HDs. Lots of sport bikes retros and old stuff. Couple of guys have vintage bikes they bring out on occasion. Should be an quick ride for you.
Any of you S FL natives The Dania Beach Antique Motorcycle Show is Jan 29, 2022. If you haven’t been you need to go. There’s the show which is great and the bikes in the parking lot that go to the show which is a show in itself. Highly recommend it. My wife even said that I’m not coming back to see here but to go to the show. Well.......

I try to make it to the vintage show every year. It's a great time. But it also coincides w/my wife's bday and, after a year of sitting home on my arse for the last year, I just got offered a new job and have to relocate so I'm not going to make it this year.

Husqvarna Norden 901 is trickling into dealers. Can’t wait to see it in person!

Pretty is as pretty does. Plus I’m partial to ugly bikes.

Really? What is it about the styling of the Norden that bothers you so much? It’s sort of retro rally styling and you’re a retro guy. Doesn’t seem anyone is coming out with anything beautiful these days. The new Suzuki sport tourer has a front that’s a mile long, the new Honda is a combination of odd and bland at least from the pictures, Yamaha’s MT range is butt ugly so why the harshness toward the Norton? Where’s the love?

Yeah, I'm just not feeling it w/that bike, Don. That's why beauty is in the eye of the beholder and even ugly girls can find an ugly guy to love.

Doesn't look too ugly to me. Looks purposeful. If it runs anything like my backpack blower and chainsaw, that would be nice!

Congratulations on your new bike. A picture(s) would be great. That’s a sweet ride, handles well and made back when the words BMW and quality could be used in the same sentence. Those airheads are easy to work on and parts are readily available too. I almost bought an R100S some years back but the seller and I got stuck $200 apart. Wish I didn’t let that one slip away.

Attempting to correct my picture faux pas. Hope this works properly. (BTW, the FJR is still a thing. It would be very hard to part with my '08)

Classic! Love the old Krauser bags.

I always loved the looks of BMW's. I had saved up $2k to buy one. In Sept 1976. my wife and I went and test rode an R90S. I was going to put down $2K and finance $2K. Test ride proved it to be too quirky for me ( the side to side shudder and the rise and fall every time I got on and off the gas). I ended up buying a new 1977 Kawasaki KZ 1000 for less than half the price ($1888 OTD for the KZ, $3999 + tax for the R90S). Paid cash for the KZ and had money left over. The KZ was a great motorcycle. I've test ridden 3 or 4 Beemers since, including renting one for 9 days in Europe, and I still don't like riding them. Love looking at them though.
