Hello Fellow FJRians,

We are in the process of organising the SoO '09 to be held in Bellingen, NSW on the weekend of 14th -15th August 2009. Our plan is to meet there on Friday (afternoon) to meet and greet. Saturday we will ride the local area (Dorrigo, Ebor, Armidale....and back around to Bellingen). Saturday evening will provide a great opportunity to catch up over a meal and a few drinks to sort out just who are the better....Queenslanders or New South Welshman (Cockroaches ) .

To mark the occasion we are also organising ride-shirts with your name and SoO details. Please stay tuned for details and opportunities to order these to wear on the special occasion.

Could I please get an indication of who is interested in comming along. I'll be sorting out the final details for accomodation and will post details the second I get them!

Stay tuned for updates here, I'll post some design options for the shirts also when I get them.

Hope to see you soon

Hello guys,

As promised, here is the update for State of Origin 2009. We've had to slide the weekend due to the Bellingen Jazz Festival that's on the weekend of 14th -16th August (nil accomodation available in town).
We are now running the State of Origin (SoO) on the 21st-22nd August 2009.
Accomodation has been reserved at the Bellingen Valley Lodge http://www.bellingen.com/motorinn/ To book your room for the weekend call Kathrine on: (02) 66551599. When you book your room mention that you are part of the FJR State of Origin group staying there.
The room cost is $99 per night for a double room, $85 for single room, $20 for extra people in a room and a hot/buffet style breaky will cost you $15. I've managed to reserve 12 rooms for now....and priority is "First in..Best dressed " basis. There are plenty more rooms available if we need more.

As previously mentioned...SoO shirts will be sorted as soon as we can but will be very similar to previous year examples.

So stop hesitating and come along for the annual gathering.

Details of a ride will be posted when available but will be in the local area/district of Bellingen & Dorrigo. We are focussing on nice riding, socialising and our wonderful bikes.

I hope to see you there and stay tuned for more info right here on the best FJR Forum!!

Sorry for the inconvenience Ernie...Damn Jazz Festivals! Who listens to that crap anyway :? All I've been listening to the last week or so is Micheal Jackson (but not by choice  ).

David1300 posted this on the Oz forum:

The history of the FJR SoO ride is briefly - it started in 2003 around State of Origin time, and I coined the phrase FJR State of Origin. Phil Button (then from NSW, and currently not on a FJR but will be back on one sometime) and I (from Qld) arranged the first one, held at Urunga in Sept 2003. Since then we have held one every year (occassionally 2 rides). Last year we had the 5th anniversary ride based around Casino.

As Moose says - we arrive Friday at the venue and maybe have a quick afternoon ride (remember the ride from Casino to Tenterfield and back - did I say quick). Friday night tends to be a casual get-together, where we all tell li.., whoops, we all share truthful anecdotes.

Saturday is 'the ride' and it varies from 300 to 500 k's depending on who is there. When we have pillions along it's usually closer to 300 or 350k's, and not quite so spirited. But ask Bernie what happens when it's boys only (he joined us a couple of years ago when he was on the East coast for the Ulysses AGM, and left with a big smile on his face).

We pride ourselves with never having bent or broken plastic or aluminium on a ride, and also no performance awards from officer friendly . But we have compared GPS top speeds that if they were achieved on a public road would send the perp to clink. Fortunately we achieved these on our 'private roads' Evryone is told where the next stop is, so there is no pressure to ride with a group.

Saturday night is the dinner. The idea is to have fun, and everyone rides, eats and drinks at their own pace. There is no shame in taking a shorter (and more measured) ride on Saturday.

Sunday we all head home.

Partners are welcome in all forms - as a pillion, or on their own bike (not necessarily a FJR). All bikes MUST be FJR's, with 2 exceptions - partners on their own bike (any make, any model), and previous FJR Owners who are now on another bike (they are welcome to come along and be reminded of their folly in no longer riding a FJR). There are other rides for FJR Owners AND Friends, but SoO is not one of them.

BTW Moose, booking made and confirmed, and I'll post up shirt details soon.

All locked in, booked my accommodation today, a budget room at $65. Will be travelling up on the Friday, leaving Western Sydney at about 6am. Not sure at this stage which way I will travelling, Putty Road or Freeway but company is welcome. This will be my 4th SOO (Dorrigo, Crescent Head & Uralla) but it has been a few years since the last one I attended and looking forward to catching up with people.
