Was able to get out for a short 110 miles Mid Winter's Ride, yesterday. The temps in the City (Denver) were 51 but the temps out East dropped to 41. A bit chilly, as I was not wearing my electric gear. Rode South East down to Elbert and back. This was the first time the FJR has been out this year. Felt good to pilot it out on the country roads. Here are a few pictures.

I always think about the salt/brine they put down on the roads. I won't take mine out until we get rain to wash the majority off the road which it has over the last few days. The FJR is in Phoenix but I could get on the Tracer Gt.

Two things about Colorado. We do not get much rain here, If I waited until rain It would be June before I could get out. Second the snow and Ice melts off the roads very quick because of the dry humidity and 245-300 days of sunshine. Also there is no salt used on the country roads out east. In the city they us some magnesium chloride. but they are getting away from that because of the environmentalist. Then of course in the winter I do wash the bike off after every ride. Lack of humidity and lack of a lot of rain, things do not rust or corrode very much / easily here.

Wintertime in the mountains is a different story all together.

This is crazy! I rode about 100 miles today in Wisconsin in mid February with no heated gear and never even turned the grips on. Was sunny and mid 40s all afternoon. Scares me a bit, can't imagine this is a good omen for March?

The reason I have the KLR is so I don't worry about salt and stuff destroying it. I keep it liberally coated with anti corrosion spray and if it's real sloppy out I wash it down after a ride.

As tomorrow is the first day of spring today was last ride of the winter season. Coincidentally I had the chance to pick up a used Super Tenere in Ft Myers and ride it back to WI. Flew down Saturday morning arrived home today 1566 miles for my final winter's ride.

I just dug a trench last night to get my fz1 into the front garage so I can start riding. Going to be a while before the fjr makes it out.

Easier if you keep the trench dug all winter! :) That way the sun melts it down. Not sure where you're at but you have more snow on the ground than here in southern Wisconsin.

MN SW suburbs. We have had a crazy amount of snow this year. Something in the range of 80 inches so far

I was going to trench my snow from my walkout but it's still 3' deep and solid.
Luckily I kept the FJR in the garage this season. 4 other bikes are stranded in the house.
But I'm ok. Just got back from skiing Lutsen. Headed back up next weekend.

You have to pick the right time of day for trenching ;) Crazy snow this year. Tonight might be the first ride. Trying to decide if my wife will kill me if I show up on the bike to take her yoga class tonight.

And here in South Jersey we've had only 2 light dustings. Weird winter indeed.

In Seattle we had a few days of snow on the ground this season. But also several mornings with freezing temps and potentially slick roads, so I have actually taken the cage to work more than normal this winter.
