The history of the Shoei brand began as a small manufacturing facility producing helmets and other safety equipment for construction sites. Starting in 1959, the Shoei company has been designing and manufacturing a premium-level helmet for professional racers and regular motorcyclists. The Shoei name has become synonymous with quality, safety, and style. With more than 60 years of experience in the business, Shoei still uses manual labor to ensure the highest possible level of craftsmanship quality.

Using consumer feedback and implementing cutting-edge technologies and the latest innovations Shoei updates its designs and creates new and improved helmets that exceed all analogs in every way. People choose Shoei helmets knowing that they will receive lightweight, strong, and comfortable gear that always fits great and protects the head in case of an accident. Until the end of July, you can buy a Shoei helmet at a reduced price.

Any time I see helmets on sale, I always want to know the manufacture date of the helmet I would be buying. If you are buying a clearance item, and your riding season ends soon, your "new" helmet will not be "new" very long. There can be time limits, depending on materials and construction, for any helmet to provide good head protection. An old helmet may fit, but (as examples) the foam liner may have hardened or internal metal items may get corroded in some way. Then the safety of that helmet may be less than you are paying for, even with the reduced price. Price is one factor in a good helmet purchase, sure, but it is not the only consideration. Fitment, sound levels, visibility, and overall weight are factors, also. All IMHO, of course.

I just bumped an old thread with a new deal. There were other models on sale in July.

All helmets are new. These sales events are initiated by the manufacturer not to get rid of the old stock but to encourage riders to try a new Shoei product and realize that it is worth the money. (for future full-price purchasing:smile2:)

I currently have the Shoei RF-1100 "Diabolic Revelation. Love it, still!!

I am looking at upgrading to the RF-1200 soon. Because we all "should" replace it every 5 years.

Glad they are on sale! 'Cause, Dang!! LOL

MOTORCYCLEiD,

NEW is a meaningless term, here. Of course they are not USED helmets, but the protective nature of the inner foam liner diminishes with age. Nobody wants to quantify that degradation, but it certainly happens at some rate. I have an old (keepsake) helmet which now has a rock-hard liner. It would be like wearing a concrete helmet, on any impact. It would give me no protection from concussion; it does make an interesting artifact, though.

A "new" helmet made a few years ago may not provide the same protection as a helmet made last week. The factory or the retailer may have held that stock on hand for any number of years. I still do NOT want to by a New-Old-Stock helmet, even with a hefty discount. There is good reason why they put a manufactured date in helmets.

So, the simple question remains, which you are welcome to answer: When were these discounted helmets manufactured?

RED has a valid point and especially true for racers and track day folks. ON or off of this site.
Too many times have I worked in Tech inpsection ( MotoA, WERA, etc ) and had to fail a brand new, out of the box, " but sir, I even have the receipt where I just bought it a couple weeks ago " helmets due to the build date being beyond approved limit of years.
So yeah, i've seen firsthand some NIB helmets at 6-7 years past their build dates.

I should've said fresh. What I meant, we don't keep tones of helmets in our warehouse and try to get rid of them. They are all freshly-made from the manufacturer. You can contact our sales team at 888.903.4344, I guess they are able to find out the manufacturing date if you're interested.
