I have always found selling bikes privately difficult and the more you want the more difficult it is, the main reason being that if someone spends, say, $10000, they are going to want a warranty.
Have a look on ebay at what a bike like yours is listed for and then see how long it takes to sell.
I had a friendly bike dealer who would sell bikes for me on commission and that worked far better than me trying to sell them privately.
If you do list it, give it a really good clean and polish before photographing it.
