Good morning,
I have never sold a motorcycle before, but it looks like I am going to have to sell my 2018 FJR1300ES (still undecided). What is the best way to determine a selling price?

Miles: 21,584
Garmin Zumo XT
Quad Lock Phone Mount
Aero Flow windshield
2 extra windshields (both VStream. One is the tallest, and a shorter one that's tinted).
Throttle body sync tool.
Tires look to be about half life.

The maintenance on the bike is up to date.

Thanks in advance.
Bill

easiest way is to check the market by seeing what similar bikes are selling for regionally and then deciding if you want a quick sale or more money. Advertise nationally, as. these bikes are good candidates for 'fly and ride'.
Check on Cycle Trader, Facebook Marketplace, historical sales on here, dealerships (and then subtract about 1000), and brace yourself for all the wannabe 'pickers' that will offer the most insulting lowball offers.

I have always found selling bikes privately difficult and the more you want the more difficult it is, the main reason being that if someone spends, say, $10000, they are going to want a warranty.
Have a look on ebay at what a bike like yours is listed for and then see how long it takes to sell.
I had a friendly bike dealer who would sell bikes for me on commission and that worked far better than me trying to sell them privately.
If you do list it, give it a really good clean and polish before photographing it.

Watch out for the "I'll buy the bike, but I need you to pay for the shipping costs and I'll add that into the sales price" scam. Dude tried that on me, I was selling a bike on Cycle Trader and Craigslist. I ended up selling it to a local dealer that buys used bikes. Got a decent price and didn't have to mess with any more fools.
Good luck.

Do not take a check including a Bank check unless you meet at the bank where the check is issued and they confirm it is authentic. There has been a lot of fraud around fake bank checks. Only accept cash or a wire transfer of funds before you sign over the title. You will only get wholesale value from a dealer but it is easy and safe. Good luck.

For cars and bikes, I look on the 3 most local craigslist sites and price it under the lowest priced unit. Remember that the ones you see on CL and cycle trader are the ones that have not sold;)

Do me a favor, if you don't HAVE to sell it because of health/financial situations, etc, just step back and hold off.

You have a Great bike example there!! And where you live? The riding is just Outstanding!!

I bet you would soon regret it, after the sale was completed...

I speak from experience on this one…the market at this moment is odd. People are not wanting to pay what the bike is worth on KBB or JD Power. I got offers ranging from under trade-in value to lowball private party offers. I ended up pulling it off the “market”…this site is the only place it’s still listed.
