My 2005 FJR 1300A (23,000 miles) has developed a condition in which the engine feels like it it hitting the rev limiter. The happens at moderate rpm, usually at steady or trailing throttle. And, of course, is intermittent.

A Power Commander, K&N filter and Two Brothers slip-ons are installed. The bike was dyno-tuned and a map written for it a 10 throttle openings, from idle to full open. The bike ran perfectly for 8 months.

After this condition was noticed the spark plugs were replaced and the bike dyno tested. Fuel delivery is ideal.

Have any of you had a similar experience?

Any ideas as to what could be causing this?

Throttle position sensor?

Thanks for any thoughts you may have.

You could try disconnecting the PCIII and reconnecting the CO2 sensor, run the bike for a few days and eliminate the PCIII as the fault.

If it seems to be the PCIII, you can download your map onto a laptop, reset the PCIII, reload your map.

The Dyno test may not have shown the fault seeing as the fault is intermittent.
