Anybody have any tips or suggestions for removing the cam chain tensioner? My cam chain is making noise occasionally and I want to take the tensioner off to see if it is stuck. The frame is in the way and the access hole in the frame is not big enough to get a socket in. Looks like it is going to be a real PITA.

Thanks

It is a barsteward to get at, unless you have very small hands.

Also if the adjuster is sticking it should be noisey all the time?

On paper it's a simple two minute job. However as woody says it's furgling awkward to wriggle the tensioner out past the frame, but it can be done. Forget any idea of using a socket on the bolts, IIRC when I did mine I ended up using a ring spanner, and just pulled the bolts up to what seemed like a suitable torque.

Even though the old one didn't have any detectable rough spots or restriction on movement, changing it has quietened the top end a lot.
