I noticed I have to press hard on the rear brake pedal ('15 FJR) before the brake lights come on. I always use the rear brake when slowing down for a full stop or lane splitting - I live in CA. The travel of the brake lever to activate the pads is perfect, and I do not have to press too hard to feel it engaging. When I use my front brakes, the lights work as specified.
I looked behind the rear brake pedal for a switch, but I could not visually find one. My assumption is the switch will likely be in close proximity of the brake pedal.

Hi Robby,

Right behind the rear master cylinder is the stop assembly switch. It is attached behind the pivot, and is on a bracket, and can be adjusted "up" to make the action occur sooner. IT has a little spring looking rod, that attaches to the rear brake lever. Here is how it looks in the callout sheet, #32:

I dont know if a 2015 has Cruise control, but on my 2018, that switch controls both brake light and Cruise control "cancel". When adjusting bikes with cruise control, be aware that if you adjust switch to initiate brake light immediately when touching the rear brake lever, you probably adjusted well into the Cruise control cancel section of the switch, and cruise will not be able to be set. It's like a posititional timed switch, with Cruise control canceled first, then brake light is initiated slightly further down the stroke, as the brake lever is pushed.

While you have the assembly apart to adjust the switch, do yourself a favor and grease the foot brake lever shaft too.

I had the very same issue with my 2016. The adjustment took 15 min and it's now perfect. It's a bit tricky to get to the switch, but you'll find it. Work in small adjustments and check often.
