:? :ale:redhawk said:It appears that Yamaha does not want to go less than 20W for this engine as it runs really warm. 20WX50W Castrol GTX is my choice. Spec calls for 20WX40W but you never know when you'll need to ride across the desert.
As Bobsfjr said the lower the first value the better as I run 10-40w and have done for years and if it was cheaper I would run 0-60w but the temperatures in Britain not cold enough anyway.bobsfjr said:The lower value on a multigrade oil only affects the viscosity when the oil is cold. I have been running Rotella T synthetic 5-40 W for 15,000 miles and the bike loves it!
Your joking arent you? as GTX is car oil (clutch slip) and you shouldnt mix oils as all sorts of nasties could happen!czguybilly said:I just did another oil change on my 06 FJR. Its been really hot here in NJ, so bought some Castrol GTX 10-40 and 20-50 together to get a bit higher viscosity.
Runs great, good quality dino oil you can find anywhere.
