I did ~350 miles one day last weekend. The miles flew by. I can’t say enough just how much I like this bike. There are faster, better handling, higher tech, etc. bikes out there, but this one makes me smile every time I ride it. The ergos are sporty enough for fun, yet comfy enough for, well, comfort. And it’s cheap to insure, no bike payment, and does decently on gas if you’re careful with the “loud handle.”
She’s definitely a keeper!

Yup, it is a fantastic bike.

I just don't know of anything that ticks so many boxes. Is there anything that is as fast but more reliable and takes less maintenance? Its basically like one of those super reliable Japanese cars from the late 80s through early 2000s that are known to be so reliable and easy to maintain/repairable, yet it is a fricking blast of a motorcycle that is also capable of being loaded to the gills and then some with some very modest prep and then ridden across the continent.

I honestly can't think of a more flexible street bike, and even off pavement it is REALLY solid for a touring bike.

Agreed! A couple years on for me, since I traded a great bike for my FJR. I bought a 2002 Vstrom 1000 when they first came out. It was an awesome bike for over 20 years when I felt the tug for the FJR.
Always looked at them, wanted one, etc... With the rumors of them being discontinued, I thought it was my last chance to get a new one. I like to buy new, and run them a long time!
Way faster than I thought, I still haven't dug WFO for very long! Smooth and comfy, and some great features like the adjustable screen, heated grips, and cruise control, I don't know what else I would ever need...
Huge smile every time I ride it. Isn't that what it's all about?

I would have to agree after owning a few K1600 GT and GTL bikes then a lot of Rts lol my ex police FJR is amazing and being the first used bike I have owned says a lot about the bike. If I knew this worked so well I would have bought an FJR years ago and saved heaps, I enjoy the bike each time I get on it ,knowing it won't let me down and it still makes me smile each ride. :geek::love:

I am new to this forum after riding a 2006 Honda ST1300 (new in 2008) for 17 years. Sold the ST1300 and I need something newer. The FJR1300 has been wife approved which is important since she rides nearly all of time with me. The motorcycle industry has seen fit to replace the sport tourers with adventure/touring bikes (Versys, VStrom, GSX-S100GT+,Tracer GT, ect) and pure touring bikes (Goldwing ect). The adventure bikes are incredibly hard for passengers to get on them due to stepped seats and other such obstacles. Nothing wrong with touring bikes per say but not for me.

I am looking forward to buying a FJR1300 and learning more about the FJRs.

Hello, and welcome!
I also had an ST1300 an 05 that I bought in 08. Put almost 70,000 on it before a guy totaled it in a parking lot. I wanted something a little newer and more up to date. So I bought a 14 FJR last year. It’s hard to believe but I like the power delivery and handling of the FJR better than the ST. It does feel slightly top heavier than the ST slow speeds, but luggage space is about the same and the FJR looks great with the side cases off. (The ST looks weird like that)
Buy one that has all the widgets; cruise, heated grips etc. I’m not the guru these other guys are but from what I’ve read 2013 and up is the way to go. I’m sure others will chime in. Best of luck in your purchase!
What part of the world are you in?

Had one of those ST's myself, still hang out at some of the ST events. Glad to have you aboard. Just ask and we'll edumacate you.
Do you mind if I ask what your forum name is over there?

Same here, 2006. I think you'll find the FJR does everything just a bit better except for wind protection. Just my opinion.
