Given the choice between the Tracer 900 and the V1K I would take the Versys. Rode the Tracer and tried to like it but the bike is just too budget even by Japanese bike standards. The Versys seems a better all around bike although I'd hate to weigh one with the Corbin seat on it.

And here we get into the discussion of what it takes to make a bike right. Japanese bikes are built to a price point and they will chop anything to stick to that price point. I like modding a bike as much as the next guy but often with Japanese bikes you're buying a frame and an engine and everything else you need to redo to your liking. After riding the KTMs the KLR rear brake line was so bad it felt like I was inflating a balloon every time I used the rear brake.
