First sound bites of new '22 F1 cars

I tried really hard, I really did...to get into watching MotoE and FormulaE,... but I can't, maybe on MUTE, the sounds those machines make are just so terrible, the frequencies spectrum is not something human ears can tolerate, and it's probably ear damaging
here's how they sound, (Warning... Keep the volume dial down otherwise your cats and dogs will go crazy !!!)

The loudest ICE's (internal combustion engines) are still music to my ears, let's hope they never go away.

after a lengthy meetings with Saudi's, Domenicali had assured team bosses about security guarantees at the Jeddah venue. He said that F1 was happy to carry on with the race because of promises given to it by Saudi officials.

“We have received total assurances** that, for the country, safety is first, no matter the situation – safety has to be guaranteed,” he said.
“So we feel confident and we have to trust the local authority in that respect. Therefore of course we will go ahead with the event.”

** Total assurances, after they couldn't prevent a missile to hit their refinery near by

F1 Miami first impressions;

• it's great to have a second venue in the US, next year third in Vegas
• track built on a parking lot ..they call it "street circuit", not sure about that, more like "parking lot circuit"
• and it looks and feels "squished and like a temporary solution" put together in a last minute
• there is SO MUCH going on around and within that venue that it's hard to isolate and see the F1 cars, many times the track just gets obscured by trees, buildings etc very hard to follow the action.

• that Hard Rock stadium building dominates the scenery, gondolas, pools, many, many building structures loitering the scene, and what's up with the FAKE marina, and mermaids, many amusement parks look more tastefully designed. (looks like somebody was trying hard to bring in a touch of Monte Carlo, Yas-marina, Montreal or something)

• cameras around the track have minimal space and viewing angle, so the director's TV feed is mostly fast fly-by's and fast camera panning, making viewers dizzy, and hard to follow the "race flow"
• post qualifying interviews were hard to conduct and hard to hear, they had some other cars roaring on the track
• Apex and F1 had created a staggering 75 layout variations across the various proposed sites, and at the end in the spirit of "We Race As One initiative" it was decided for the first time in F1’s long history, the championship will be hosted in a predominantly African-American community, in the city of Miami Gardens
• Miami F1 was Originally envisioned to be hosted in Downtown Miami as a true Street circuit.
• from what we hear Vegas will also convert a "parking lot" into F1 track

however not everything was a disappointment , Danica for example, SkySport should hire this woman, so articulated, being a racer herself she had great questions and comments, very fluid when talking, photogenic and tastefully dressed, and politely waiting for her turn to talk.

So far it has been exciting. It is on network tv rather than ESPN , so they don't separate the pre show from the race. At 1:00 cst the coverage starts, at 1:15 my power goes out and we can hear a transformer explode in the distance. No problem, out to start up the 5k watt generator. Won't start - crap , I fired it up 2 weeks ago. Pull the bowl, clean it up and fire a bunch of cab cleaner through the inlet. Seems fine, won't fire. Repeat many times before realizing the shutoff valve will not pass fuel. Can't get it clean and it threads into the tank so I can't easily bypass it. Finally decide to cut a few inches off my jiggler hose, clamp it to the fitting and stuff the stock fuel line inside it and clamp it. Fires up, power up the tv and cable box and 2:25. Then just to mock me the power comes back on. Then I realize as the cable box finally comes up that it is the formation lap - race has not started. Lol. Race is pretty good so far. Max passing, lewis whining.

The fear about not being to pass - clearly not an issue even in the midfield. They do need to inform the announcer that the Miami football team is the dolphins and has nothing to do with David Beckham. It's soccer and nobody cares

F1 (Oh so) Miami, done and dusted:

• aside from Max passing Charles, and Charles and Perez passing attempts after the safety car, it was "just cars going round and round race" ...as most other F1 races are (to be fair to Miami)
• even Danica said: "we were all watching and saying c'mon man let's hope something happen" to turn this into proper F1 race... and thankfully Lando crashed, and everybody cheered, (shame that predicted rain didn't come)
• even Crofty was going; "pls,pls,pls let it rain, give me something to work with, so quiet around here"
• due to limited cameras coverage of the track, it was almost painful to watch on the TV, director switching cameras every 3-4 seconds, just when you get to focus, click, there's another camera view, and another, and another (3sec fly-by's at close frame, are no fun for eyes, like sitting first row at iMax theatre) I don't remember that being as bad on other street circuits, Monte Carlo, Baku etc
• It'd be better if race director would stream mostly "on-board and helicopter cameras"
• there was a few passing maneuvers (or tripping) in the middle of the pack, but mostly a 4 car race
• Martin Brundle's worst "grid walk" ever, desperately searching for "celebrities" that were unreachable, so he started interviewing just "regular civilians" , which was almost a better choice, considering some of the "celebrities" (Venus,Pharrell...) vocabulary seems very limited, (“know what I'm sayin' dog?”) they can't even put one sentence together, plus most of them had "no business on F1 event", they were there just to take selfies with each other (who gives a fcuk what Venus, Michelle Obama, Jay-T's, Jay-Z's, and other Jay-XY's have to comment on F1)... poor Martin should just ignore them and talk to "people that care about motorsport"
• Russell and others made a comment, saying track surface is the worst on the calendar, Danica's comment; they must have cheap out on the asphalt quality, and spent ALL the money on VIP lounge (fake marina and mermaids)
• (from the mediaF1 Miami scene roasted in the media this morning as "F1 turned So American, it hurts"
• Things immediately felt different when former American race car driver Willy T. Ribbs was handed the microphone to conduct the post-race top-three interviews. Not everyone was a fan with the interviews widely labelled as “awkward”.
• But things were only about to get weirder. Next, personnel from Red Bull and Ferrari made a long journey under Hard Rock Stadium to the podium on the other side. Christian Horner and his wife Geri broke out into a run as they were forced to make the long journey while escorted by police bikes.
• Once at the podium, Verstappen, Leclerc and Carlos Sainz were handed American football helmets which they were forced to wear. Needless to say, the helmets didn’t stay on for long with all three whipping them off promptly.
• F1 jewelry and fireproof underware drama continues...

Did you even watch the race? The midfield was passing constantly. Sure - Max has a faster car, Charles couldn't get close enough to pass - he didn't have enough power. But among cars with similar power there was a lot of back and forth.

ha,ha I did watch the race, but I muted Crofty, to actually SEE and enjoy THE RACE , you should re-watch it without Crofty's screaming, huge difference

...we all experience things with "our own" pair of eyes/ears, there will always be different reviews.

Yeah, the track is terrible... Like you said, it looked like it was put together at the last minute. I did like the 3 DRS zones.

I watched it on the F1 App. Great commentary and great viewing. But the track was still crap!

Or maybe I am just prejudiced, since I live 2 hours away from COTA...🏎

Funny, I think they need to dump COTA I hate tracks where they can drive 20 feet off the track and not find a wall or gravel trap. Not to mention that the track has been sinking since the day they built it.
