Forgot to post this last week. This is me doing The Dragon in a rainstorm in full rain gear(except booties once again. New rule ALWAYS BRING THE BOOTIES)😆. Hey, when you’re 40 minutes away and you rode 2+ hrs to get there…You don’t turn around! I think between Hurricane Ida and doing the Dragon in the rain, I’ve learned some sort of pilot wings, but for motorcyclists 😆

This other side of the double-yellow thing is why I have no interest for popular "enthusiast" roads. Seen too many YouDude videos of folks in the wrong lane on a blind curve. With rare exception, the cross-over videos that result in wrecks, don't get posted.
One of my pet peeves in the mountains is sports cars or “sporty” cars that can’t accept it when you’re keeping a hotter pace then them, and instead of waving you by, they start cutting corners into the other lanes and cutting the shoulders kicking dirt into the road. I always give them the WTF question mark hand in the air…. You’re gonna kill another motorist you bozo🤷🏻‍♂️ Ego is ugly😏.

Yip. I back way off. Did that twice this week already. I like to have fun, but not if I feel like it places others at elevated risk. Couple years ago I caught up to one kid at a traffic light and proceeded to remind him that a car could've been pulling out their driveway on the other side of that blind hill he just hopped doing >60MPH. Gotta know the road.

EXACTLY! I can't tell you how many times that's happened to me. I wish I could say, "can you just keep driving like you were before I came up behind you?"

Happened to me last weekend. There’s an event here called the blessing of the bikes, usually 500-600 bikes in the area, mostly HDs . I caught up to two different groups. One guy on a raked out chopper with a big ole rear tire and another on a trike. Both decided they needed to pick up the pace as I approached, I was very respectful and didn’t crowd them but I thought for sure they were either going into the on coming lane or run off the road. The trike with a passenger on the back I thought for sure was going to flip over. If she hadn’t been leaning into each corner they probably would have. I back way off and eventually turned. They both made me very nervous.

You guys are right, of course. No need to encourage a wreck.

That site should be paying people for their riding. You didn't ask for them to take pics of you lol. I doubt people would pay me anything if I just showed up and remodeled their kitchen and bathroom without asking. What a racket.
I wonder how many of the photos have been purchased by accident lawyers and law enforcement? That said and due to abuse, I am strongly against red light cameras which may create as many problems as they resolve. (on the fence about traffic cameras)

I am just glad we haven't legalized speed cameras as much in the states as Europe has. I know for a fact I wouldn't be riding if NY (upstate) and New England had them and I surely wouldn't be on motorcycle forums.

If I am really hell bent on riding a stretch of road I have made it a point to just give up and get off the bike when there is too much traffic. (Upstate NY can be very congested at times especially the summer when all the Florida people come back from their winter homes) Albeit most of those "fun" roads are country and often 30-45mph and people do live at whatever end they are going to but when I see a Mercades, a Subaru, a Volvo and a lifted truck turn to go the way I want to go I just pull over and wait. Have a little break and calm down so I can rip it up knowing I won't get the road rage complex because of my timing. My love is the congested highway but I still find some enjoyment in those back roads the troopers don't set speed traps on. JMHO

The cameras they had here at one time were removed once it was realized that they didn't discriminate in who they ticketed. They didn't anticipate that some "connected" people would drive through the poorer neighborhoods where the cameras went up. Actual cops on the other hand were smart enough to know who not to pull over or ticket for the same offenses. There were of course some other problems but those weren't the actual ones that got them removed.

In my area there are loads of speed and red light cameras. They stick them in every where. Very unnerving. My wife and I have been caught several times. I got a speeding ticket doing 36mph in a 25mph zone. Caught on the bike too. Big brother is watching. 😕

I went on a relaxing country road ride last evening. Had 3 close calls. deer. turkey & a pheasant. Glad i was solo cuz if i had been with friends Im sure I woulda been going alot faster. Kicking back & enjoying the ride does have its benefits. I think next time i go up there Ill go mid day.

I have heard that the boroughs have the cameras in a lot of places but just seems like the usual kind of NYC thing. I used to ride through the city years ago and go up and down the FDR for fun but in recent years I avoid the city all together. A few cities (mainly out west) utilize the cameras but luckily for my riding preference the southern, mid-western, and eastern highways are bereft of them. In my neck of NY they have to place a clearly visible sign at the intersection to even use a traffic cam so you know which ones to avoid taking "leisure" through.

I have a dislike of speed cameras from a former time here when they had photo radar (third party vans parked on the freeway). Maybe leeway of 2 mph over, or you got a ticket. No tolerance and unreasonable on a highway where patrol cars don't even look at you until you're at least 10 over.... why not the same tolerance? Many protested, it got killed, but now the stationary ones are coming back. For those of you caught, how much tolerance?? Yes, at least now they have warning signs......

Red light cameras I don't mind, I have seen the benefits in high risk intersections...... my car GPS beeps at me when approaching a red light camera. Good chance you can load red light camera locations into your GPS, but basically, slow down and don't run red lights. Not much of a problem with that.......

I don't "commute" with the bike anyway, it's a higher risk situation. I get it for those that "have to" but hey, back roads are always more fun.

Last year or two I've noticed speed cameras being placed in the area of constructions zones. Well marked and the cameras were quite visible. Not sure though if the purpose was more deterrent than enforcement. Got caught off guard and went through one on I95 at least 15 over while flowing along with traffic. Figured I was deservedly getting one along with everyone else but nothing came of it.

I've seen the same thing happen in more than one community but with a difference. The "connected" people were the residents of those communities and the local leaders argued it unfair to expect lower-income folks to pay the same fines as others. Cameras probably create just as many issues as they try to solve.

Not enough.
It cost me $81.70 to drive 54kph on a 40kph street.

The photo evidence hangs in my garage, adding to the collection.

I guess what I'm asking is, will they give us 3-5mph leeway and no tickee?? I know in school zones they aren't as tolerant.

Stateside, they give you 10mph.

Well, a patrol car might, but what about the speed cameras?
I have an LEO friend and he says their motto is "Nine you're fine. Ten you're mine!". :D
