Made my own ABS tester...

I had a spare sumitomo 4-wire connector and some female pins. Took five minutes to make an ABS tester. Took longer to get the @#$! connector off the clip on the bike. I did not put back on clip when done, I just wire tied it off to keep from rattling.

I went through the test procedure. Easy. Except, did not check battery voltage before starting! First time, bike goes dead in middle of test. And of course, I think "Oh shit!". But I quickly figured out, voltage was below 12.8 (it was fine to start bike, 12.7, just not for test). Ran bike for a few minutes, let battery charge a little. All was well. Did test about 4-5 times.

Then, I bled rear, and one front (non-linked) channel. I had already done a complete flush. Never saw any dirty or even darker fluid come out. In fact the only really dark fluid I had during my complete fluid flush, was in clutch, when I bled that. So think I'll call it day. Brakes pads are all new, fluid is fresh, everything works.

The connector slides off the metal tab easily once you figure out how the little latch works...

Yeah, I see that tab. Once I pulled in the right direction, I got it disconnect from that tab no issue. But for some reason I did not have the dexterity to get it oriented to go back on. Next time I pull the cover off, hopefully outside in the bright sun I'll be able to see better and resolve. My fat head kept blocking flashlight.

Any noticeable change in brake feel after service?
They seem a little firmer. Could be nothing. The pads were ok prolly 75% before changing. Fluid, unknown, but wAs not real dark. Could have left it all, But I just figured why not? Bike was new to me late last summer. I had planned on going through all fluids, brakes, tires, lube in the winter, establish a baseline.

What...? no pictures of the tool. I have multiple wiring harnesses from the 80's lying around. My have same type connectors on one.
The last ABS tester tool I made was a paper clip ;).

Here are the pics. Better late than never

I ordered a few connectors, pins, plugs for another project from EasternBeaver. I think it was about $30. Maybe 4 connector pairs, 20 pins, 20 plugs, plus shipping from Japan.
So to make this, $3 or so.

Completed harness. Spare Sumitomo female connectors next to...

I use an alligator clip. Open it all the way and it will "bite" both connectors and stay in place for you to do the ABS cycle. Really no need to get any fancier.

^ me also. At home that's what I use but I was at someone else's place helping out. But I guess if one wants to install and forget about it this connector would be the way to go.

That's what I did with mine. Switch type tucked up in that fairing void/pocket above the front wheel. Stupid easy to get to come flush time. Unless of course you forget that you did that and grab another one while all the time trying to figure out why it seems familiar. Dumbass. I hide my own Easter eggs too btw.

LMAO! You know, if a certain someone had some extra parts laying around unused and wanted to dispose of them I'd be willing to send a few bucks his way. JS.

I'd gladly pass it over to you Russ however it's already nestled in a '14 up in VT somewhere. Probably shivering too.
