MAD Ride - Perth, Western Australia

I participated in the MAD (Making Difference Ride) in Perth yesterday afternoon.

The ride is a way to raise funds for Spinal Rehabilitation and research at a local hospital here in Perth. It all started 3 years ago, with 500 riders attending. Last year, 1500 riders showed up, and a raffle of a LCR Stoner (signed) Honda replica MotoGP bike was conducted.

This year, a Ducati 999 Stoner (signed) MotoGP (only one of it's kind) replica was raffled. Over 2500 bikes showed up, and nearly $100,000.00 was raised.

There was a show 'n shine display, so I entered the FJR as a bit of "good idea at the time" thing.

And the Ducati.......

I didn't win it :(

I'm getting a PC3 and a custom map later this week.....will let you both know how it goes...
Jeez, I sure could use your help over this side - that blue bike is beautifully clean. Can't see the Ducati, thouigh - must have posted the wrong piccie.
Nice photos Steve, & a worthy cause. Just goes to show that there aren't many angles from which any coloured FJR doesn't look like the duck's guts !!

ie. Very nice for our Northern Hemisphere comrades.
Nice bike Steve and a great cause. Perhaps you should wander over here to the eastern states and do the Snowy Ride with us. Another great cause with lots of money raised by the Motor Cycling Community for Childrens Cancer Research.

So Western Australia has the MAD Ride, NSW has the Snowy Ride, what do the other states of Australia have as major charity events held by the motorcycle community?
We also have our Annual Christmas Toy Run (for underprivileged children and families - like the other states), but I forecast the MAD ride to overshadow the Toy Run very soon.
Great cause Steve - good pics - love your shiny blue bike.

So, does that now give me the OK to wear the skimpies'n'high heels when I ride the FJR ?????

We do a Toy Run (on a really Hot'n'Humid December morning here in Katherine) but it's good fun and lotsa coldies afterwards.

Cheers :ale: :ale:
