Thinking about changing my Bike-Bike Radio to a Kenwood TK3201, but have noticed they are much cheaper elseware than in the UK; anyone know if there is any difference between the UK version v's particulary the one on sale in Germany? frequency the same?, will I have to speak German?

The PMR radios are the same across the ERUP, frequencies, tones and specs will be the same.

As to why the Kenwood would be cheaper abroad, it is probably because Kenwood here in UK is marketing themselves as a "quality" brand thereby justifying a higher cost. So apart from having to learn German, there shouldn't be any problems.

If you are after a good performing PMR then look towards the professional range, like http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?TabID=1&criteria=pmr&ModuleNo=46529&doy=27m4
Not as cheap as the rest but you generally will get what you pay for.

Kenwood 3207

I used the bar mounted PTT and the standard Autocom Kenwood lead
Both parts were being sold off cheap at the end of last year on eBay.. However I bought the bike/car power adaptor that replaces the battery on the 3207, on eBay as a buy now new part. When it arrived I cut the cigar lighter plug of, replaced it with a fuse holder and an earth ring terminal. I use a relay switched by the brake light power with the main feed straight from the battery through a fuse and a ground loop eliminator in to the input side of the relay. The output connector is shared by the radio power adaptor and the Autocom  Turn on the ignition both units spring in to life :D
