Well I had my first test of the GTR1400 to day. Not bad at all. Very smooth and the gear box is as slick as. Low down pulling power not as good as the FJR that could be due to gear ratios or VTC. Its goes like s*** of a shovel when you get up in the reves. :shock:
Bike feels light although minimal fuel and no panniers on the test bike.
Wind protection is ok no real pushing in the back of the head and no buffeting Screen needs to be a little wider I think. Some heat on the lower legs but not that bad.
Instrument cluster and ignition key system are spot on and I liked the tyre pressure indicator. $23000 ride away no trade was the price I was given. That would translate into about $9000 change over.
Any colour you want as long as it is silver or black.

++++ Gearbox.
++++ Smoothness
++++ Riding position
------ Exhaust pipe (Butt Ugley)
------ Hard Hand Grips (Being a little picky here)

Better then the FJR in some areas but worth the $9000 change over figure???NO I will stick with the Effy thank you.
If you were going to buy a new GTR or FJR it would not be an easy choice
in the end it would come down to personal preferance it think.

Hey Belly

Interested to hear about the heat thing, its the only bitch i have with my 05

Is it significant on the GTR and was it a hot day when you rode?

I admit to coveting any new model for its increased technological gadgetry and supposed improvements but when it comes down to it and after after every trip away I swear I'll never sell the FJR, it puts a smile on my face and i reckon thats all it has to do

besides for a chgeover similar to yours i could buy a naked bike for summer or i suppose i could steal :twisted: the wifes ER6n

I'm with you on the exhasut

cheers

GTR 1400

I felt the heat on the feet and lower part of the leg. Nothing up around the thigh. That is where the FJR is not so good.

I agree I would not trade my FJR in for one. But if I was looking to buy a large touring bike it would be a difficult choice between the FJR and the GTR. I think the Effy is better looking from most angles. Hard to beat the looks of an FJR from the rear I love that rear tail light that looks like an old sailing ship. Anyway thats the view most other bikes will get of the FJR (REAR) and dissapearing :ale:
