Bought a new 2006 FJR.

Mine has just turned 10,000 miles and I was contemplating trading it for a new one. So, go and sit on it - umm, not enough leg room.

No problem says the man - we have one here (customers) who has had the seat cut down. Please try it.

It looks great and, yes, I can fit it.

So, how much for mine to trade (2004 model). Turns out I have to pay £4,000 to trade up. Which makes mine worth £6,800. Since I only paid £7,000 for it last year - not bad.

But then, you add on:

Extra insurance cost
New Baglux bag
New heated grips
New Givi plate

plus

farkling to get the screen right
Add back in my autocom and sat nav etc (and there is no where to fit it on the new bike).
Plus will the bars pull back enough

etc etc

So, too many doubts to risk that amount of money.

So, I didn't.....

I don't get it...the man says, no problem about your concern not having enough leg room. So, a lower seat would cure this problem? Please explaine that one to me. My way of thinking, you would get more leg room with a taller seat, no?

Ahh - my mistake - the ground was too far away - not "not enough leg room".

I am now reconsidering my decision. Yesterday, I had a VFR in the garage. Last night someone said they were interested in buying it. This afternoon it was sold !

So, come on, give me some really good reasons why I should change !

You shouldn't change. 10,000 miles?? Hell it isn't even broken in yet and I dare say having ridden it only for such a (relatively) short distance, you have yet to get to know the machine. Flog it around another 45-50,000 miles; then you will have enough data with which to make a proper decision

The Force is strong with this one Obi Wan

Sold the VFR - "free" new bike - money to spend on those replacement farkles.

You want us to tell you to buy it don't you?
Cos you feel guilty or something?
Cos SWMBO needs re-assurance that the guys said it was a good idea
Cos you want that new bike smell and pride as you ride down the street with an 06 plate
Cos it means a new FJR owner will be created when your old one gets sold
Cos the sun rose this morning

We understand, we really do, honest.

GO BUY THE BLOODY THING THEN

Good decision. You're going to love it. Great bike with some nice improvements over the older (but still great) model.

Schadenfreude perhaps, but jealousy never

Daren't let Cap'n Nemo see me looking at other bikes, it might turn sulky and fry its battery or something.
