I really wish Givi would make a…..

…. Smaller black plastic locking tail case that was maybe teardrop or wedge shaped for aero and good looks. Maybe 18-20 liter storage, and locked into the monokey system. WHY GIVI…..WHYYYY😫. Instead your choices are boat anchor, larger boat anchor…. Or little monolock scooter case🤦🏻‍♂️

I appreciate "luggage" that can safely hold my expensive head protector from bird poop and theft. Anything else seems to have useful limits...for me. Yes, I have a tail bag I strap to the back seat for those spirited rides. It does make left - right transitions a little easier. I also have a 39L Yamaha top case, which has popped off 3 times on the slightest sharp bump, even with the added stiffener. Last time it was a "man hole cover" edge just 8 miles from my house. I live in the Norhteast, smooth roads are just a wish in many places. I have done many tests as to why it popped off. Its the base flexing and the tongue popping out even with the added stiffener as I saw it in my mirror just before it was to hit the ground, and stopped it. It happened in front of my house at only 20mph. I am not going to ride missing every slight edge or bump. I have gotten tired of repainting it and I now only use it on overnights bolted to the $200 Yamaha Aluminum tail rack. The 50L has a 10 times stiffer "grid" base w/o the stupid alloy stuck on piece the 39L needs and does little. FWIW I did modify the top case plastic tongue w/plastic welder built up to never pop out, but I still bolt it down. Plus plastic welded the stiffener. The most recent color of the top case on my dark grey bike is silver Krylon, because the Colorite spray paint takes months to harden up.... Krylon takes 1-3 days and can be touched up. Colorite Poly spray paint cannot be touched up w/o it wrinkling. Can you tell , I am frustrated with the top case?
I saw some people talking down on SHAD, but they had the size I wanted for my last tour so i bought one. I had to fabricate my GIVI 357 a tad to fit both GIVI and SHAD top plates, but that was relatively easy. I hit one road in southern NY south of the Cascades that was the worst washboarding I’ve seen since i lived in VT. It was relentless for 5+ miles. That night at the motel i noticed my top plate was a little loose, but that’s because it was mounted with my fabricated setup and needed a tighten. As for the SHAD in the plate? It stayed rock solid. Passed my test🤷🏻‍♂️

So after thinking about the Smuggler for a minute. I was thinking wait, my Tenda is basically a soft smuggler😆. So bam…satisfied. They come with a rain cover too if anyone is wondering. Now i can actually roll with Top Case AND Tenda on tours. Not sure why I was so slow to utilize this…It’s actually meant for your back seat, not the rack in reality 😊

I keep a Cortech on my rear seat too and it does come in handy. Doesn't look as good as your Tenda though. But sorry to say, it ain't no Smuggler which I had on my last Feej. Unlike our tailbags the Smuggler I could lock and also didn't have to worry about any rain cover. (It's constantly on my mind to reach behind and feel if that cover's still there.) I like Smugglers.

Jason. After losing 2 Yami cases he should try a Givi.

No topcase has an adverse effect on handling or aerodynamics at any speed, for me. I prefer an ample topcase functionally, but think the bike looks better without one.
If I were to go tiny, it’d be with no topcase and a Yamaha tank bag. Or maybe a Nelson Rigg hurricane pack on the back seat.
