This is zero fault of the FJR Owner's site, but I got scammed. I responded to an older ad on here for a windshield for my Gen 1. A Tom P. PMed me and said he had a friend selling one and gave the email veetoone@outlook.com. I emailed the guy and agreed to buy it, and when I asked him if he took Paypal or Venmo, he said he prefered an Apple gift card. I sent him a gift card for $50, and he said he would ship it that coming Saturday. On Sat he emailed that the shipping was more than anticipated, so I gave him another $25 to cover the overage. I asked for a tracking number and never got a response. When I searched the email address, I found it had been used to scam a person on a KTM site.
I'm normally very careful, but I let my guard down and got burned. I should of seen the redflags, like Tom P. didn't have any previous post and sending gift cards that couldn't be traced. I'm mad at myself more than anything, but I wanted put this out there to warn others to be more cautious than I was.
