You do get a fair amount of whine from the gears on the FJR, but I wouldn't have called it a whistle/squeal.
A whistle could be caused by the visor on your helmet, if it is not seated firmly. I have to press around the edges of my visor to stop an annoying whistle with my helmet.
Thanks Bernie..the noise seems to be in sync with the engine rpm and probably related to the intake...have ridden since your reply and can say that the sound is much like a vacuum cleaner at high pitch..probably in the 9,000 hertz plus range.
