Thanks, but I'm all set on springs and shock, now. I'd be interested in some raising (jacking) links if anyone is holding. I might also entertain an aftermarket shock that was sprung too heavily for someone.

In fact, I will probably list my stock 2003 shock for sale.
I will update the first post.

How much do you want to raise the rear? Note, rear suspension arm ratio is ~2.7:1, and I believe stock dogbones are 190mm center to center.... to raise the rear 25-27mm, make a set of dogbones from 1/4" stainless flat bar, with hole centers 180mm. Not too many "raising" dogbones around, other option is Soupy's adjustable links...

A Gen3 shock has more spring..... OEM Gen2 is (combined) ~575 lbs, Gen3 is ~650 lbs.

Gen 1 may have a different arm ratio because the links are 162mm c to c. Shock eyes c to c are all identical.
Sure, I can make arms or buy the British ones if I decide I need more peg clearance. I just figured if someone has this stuff laying around... you never know if you don't ask.
For the moment, I'm not going to make any changes until I get done with the forks and see how it balances out.

Ah yes, I gave you Gen2/3 length.... relay arm is same, so same ratio..... ever try a 190/55 rear tire? It is ~10mm taller.

Gearing was a tad lower on Gen1 as well...... I bet could take those slower red ones with ease, lol.

Can't do video at the moment, but I'll see what I can do when it's back together.
Hey, question; What do you guys like to use to clean fork oil off of the calipers?

Tooth brush with Mineral spirits or naptha get oils off.... have used brake cleaner for really stubborn stuff..... final wipe with isopropanol.

Thanks. I asked because I usually wash with water and degreaser with a brush before teardown, but I didn't this time, and one is especially goopy.
I like the mineral spirits idea.

She's still apart because a severe sinus infection has had me down for the count for a week. Hoping Friday or Saturday.
I still ride like a young man, but I don't recover like one.

I have a set of dog bone risers from my 04 you can have, they lift the bike 3/8" . I used them before I changed out my original shock with a Gen3 shock off a 17. . I left them on after I installed my 17 rear shock for a while and bike did great with them, but I reinstalled the original dogbones and like it a tad better. However with the softer springing on the 04 shock, the riser dog bones lifted the rear and it handled quicker and I liked the combo. Changing out the front springs and a new rear shock is the best money spent on the Gen1. $15 for shipping
