I need to order an exhaust guard for the left side of the bike, sitting on the bike, but I need to know the size of the exhaust pipe right where the center stand rests. Each time I arrive at my destination I seem to rub the exhaust pipe with the heel of my boot leaving a black rubber mark on the exhaust.
After doing a research I found a muffle guard on EBay at a reasonable price but they're asking to check the size before ordering.
That should come off with brake cleaner and super fine steel wool. Or you can order a 7 inch one off of Amazon.
This one is 9 inches....https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07K7DVDKV/ref=redir_mobile_desktop?encoding=UTF8&aaxitk=2ee7bdc054f31457f86222de1ca0c8f1&content-id=amzn1.sym.53aae2ac-0129-49a5-9c09-6530a9e11786%3Aamzn1.sym.53aae2ac-0129-49a5-9c09-6530a9e11786&hsa_cr_id=5701688670801&pd_rd_plhdr=t&pd_rd_r=328b4340-fa49-4d87-b42c-4fd4708ee5cb&pd_rd_w=FxxPC&pd_rd_wg=KGYsd&qid=1655493589&ref=sbx_be_s_sparkle_mcd_asin_0_title&sr=1-1-a094db1c-5033-42c6-82a2-587d01f975e8

Get a piece of stiff wire, and bend it into a "C" shape, bigger than the pipe. Bend the "C" open enough to pass the points of the "C" over the pipe, just barely touching on each side of the pipe. Remove the "C" and measure between the points with any ruler or tape measure. That will be the size (diameter) of the pipe.
A dial caliper would be the right tool, really. I have a cheap digital one that measures in Imperial or Metric units.
My wife's boots used to touch the exhaust pipe often, leaving black marks on it. I carried a small amount of Easy Off oven cleaner in a small plastic bottle on multi-day trips to take care of the marks. All I needed to do is to dab a bit of cleaner on the black spot in the evening, and next morning wipe it off with a paper towel. No steel wooling or rubbing was necessary.
