I ordered a custom license plate for my 2014 and this is how it looks installed:

I am wondering if there are others who have installed a custom license plate on their motorcycle? Please share if you have...

Yeppers this the 21st century. Wonder why people block out plate numbers on auto trader, craigslist ? Cause it can disappear over night. Yes it's a lot harder than it used to be to look up for honest folks. Like the old saying about locks and honest people.
As I reside in Minnesota, I found this information useful:

Dunno, posted a car on CL Sat night - plate was in full view in the ad. The car did disappear suddenly yesterday, but only after the guy plunked a bunch of cash in my hand ;)

Agreed! The way I look at it, the BoogeyMan is still going to get me even if he does or does NOT know my license plate info!

I would hide my plate if I was a celebrity, but YOU guys don't even think I'm cool, so why bother? ¯\(ツ)

O.K. Maybe just for laughs. Here's a new plate frame I just installed. Obviously not an original phrase, but my local friends think it's hilarious.

The previous frame said
"Ridin' for Biden
Gas is too HIGH!"

The problem with that one was that some people didn't read the second line and started cussing at me. That's the opposite of the chuckle I was going for. :(

Yeah, I wouldn’t want the ‘B’ word displayed on my ride no matter the message :)

Sometimes I’d see 3” chrome emblems mounted on bikes that read FJB Edition. That was a bit clever. At least the first one was.

My stepdad is so out of touch, he thinks my FJR looks like a crotch rocket. Needless to say, he hasn’t ridden a bike since they were mostly 250cc.
Its easier to just go through someone's forum posts if you want a bunch of info about them. Even easier if they tend to use the same username on multiple forums. Using a license plate would be a lot of extra work.
Yup. Lots of security briefings in my 40+ year career. "Talking around" a subject in insecure settings is specifically called out because pieces from conversations can be put together to reach a conclusion. You can do a thought experiment to consider how that applies so much more completely since the WW2 warnings and the never-forgetful Internet.

They don’t need probable cause to look up a plate in any state.

On a separate note, those plate scanners make me uncomfortable. They can be useful, but it’s too Minority Report for my tastes.
Personalized plate here is a one-time C$310..... regular fees only for renewals. Plates here are not a record the public can look up. Even cops can't just go look up a plate for no reason, must have probable cause. That said, they are currently rolling out scanning cameras to scan plates as the cruisers drive..... notification will pop up if reported stolen, expired, or on a bulletin list.

I was! That photo was a week ago near Big Bear Lake in CA. I darksided on that tire for 5K miles, but in the end I went back to a MT.

I see! So why did you go back?

I don't want to hijack this thread so I'll make it brief. I won't knock it--it worked well, crazy amounts of traction, and handled very well at speed. But my car tire was really heavy and it made uneven surfaces more prominent, especially at low speed. I just didn't enjoy riding it as much.
