I'm in awe of the dangerous riding I see (usually on the weekends). Riders in groups passing on a 2 lane highway, passing between oncoming traffic, at crazy speeds. There's usually is a lower experienced rider trying to keep up to the group, and putting even more danger to the situation. This type of riding is why non riders think its sooooo dangerous to ride.
Then...Then, i watch vids of crashes and close calls caused by irresponsible riding. The dumb arse riders have the balls to blame the poor cager who had no chance of predicting such stupidity, and pulling in front of idiot rider.

Just venting what i'm seeing out there. One good thing comes of it. My disgust with irresponsible riding makes me focus on trying to be more predictable to all drivers, and try to not be such an a-hole rider. Good on you if you are the responsible respectful rider type.

Was just out today (in the Car) and saw one. We just got 4 inches of snow but roads were pretty dry and getting closer to spring so some early idiots out early. GSXR something weaving at fast speeds in and out of traffic.

There is a dude (I won't say the type of bike) that has passed me on my way home while in my truck numerous times. Things I've witnessed, every time he passes me at speeds I estimate at 100+, sometimes while wearing shorts (I think 1 time last summer I saw flip flops). Passing on right shoulder. Passing on left shoulder. Passing on entrance and exit rampa. Skirting between cars and trucks at same speed. I've grabbed my head several times thinking his saddle bags were going to clip the semi or car he was splitting or thinking that a car or truck might drift while he was between them. I watched him almost get clipped by a car by what had to be an inch. And these cars and trucks are already going 75-80 for the most part.

Time is important to me but not so important that I want to arrive dead. IDK what the heck could be so important to ride like this dude does every day. While we all get in a hurry and take chances and push the limits from time to time, IMO, if your entire ride is a "chance" , you are not tilting the odds in your favor. Ride your ride. but don't hit my truck.

Kid(?) down the street got a sport bike with aftermarket exhaust. He must run down the block at 9k in first and then rev it as he passes our house (regardless of time of day).

Oddly he parks at the curb overnight. I don't know if it's because the family won't let him/her park in the garage or if he's a visitor but eventually it will self-correct as some chucklehead side swipes in in the dark as it's less than a car length from the stop sign.

Them hitting me isn't what concerns me. No matter how skillful they are, or think they are, it's them scaring a driver up ahead who then jerks the wheel into someone else and all of a sudden we're playing car hockey. And this isn't limited to motorcycles either.

I agree BigOgre. I was being a wise ass. He has come up on me sooo fast I never saw him until he was passing. I'm sure he has passed some who freaked out and jerked the wheel or slammed the brakes. I just don't understand I guess. I drive 45 miles one way. This guy's commute is longer as I've seen him up near my office and then passing my exit. How the heck can someone be in the much of a hurry, EVERYDAY?

Here's another. I hired this kid (21 yo). Great employee. He sometimes rode his bike to the office and we would talk riding and bikes often. He is somewhat new to the area and said he desired to ride the NC mountains. I warned him to know the road before you get too aggressive as things like blind turns, washouts/debris, turns that change the radius as you turn, cars and bikes crossing the double yellow lines, etc. Well he went up and went too fast into a turn that got sharper as you went round it. He low sided it and luckily stopped short of where the bike ended up. Also luckily just a bad case of road rash and a fractured ankle. Bike wasn't so lucky. It went over the side and tumbled down into a creek.

Ive been riding with a BMW group and the guys are pretty good riders, but are a little fast. Most are in there 60's as I am and know to ride there own ride when in the group. I normally am in the middle of the group. The first time we were out with the group my friend who in my opinion rides a bit fast(and I tell him so)and another guy were really cutting it up. When we finally caught up with them (5 min later) I was wondering who that kid was. Well the guy is 82 years old and rides like some of the kids we have been talking about. On that ride they came around a corner and my friend and him missed a heard of goats another guy on an FJR was not so lucky and hit one. You never know what's around the corner.

Life is too short to worry about what you gramma's think of others' riding. Just b/c you won't do it doesn't mean anyone else is stupid or crazy or an idiot. It COULD simply mean you're 🐔 bawk bawk! :ROFLMAO:

I’d say I ride too fast at times but not in and around traffic. I figure the only person I’m putting in danger is myself.
We do have our share of D bags on sport bikes acting like idiots in traffic but they’re not nearly as bad as the 1% DBAGS that ride like asshats through traffic. And I would hate for them not to peel their paw off the left grip that’s above their shoulder in order to flip off everyone they pass. Classy!! Not a fan…

Hey probably 95% of the riders here like to wick it up on occasion. I'm guilty too. There's 2 issues here... 1) Some of this stuff should be saved for the track or 2) Weaving and passing like this is immature/selfish and can only end in bad ways. Odds will catch up.

And to those who say they are endangering no one other than themselves need to ask themselves... how is my family going to be with me gone?

Isn't that claim often heard right before the other well-known one of, "Hold my beer"?

Tell that to the ship dit I tended to with 2 separate compound fractures until the paramedics arrived. He didn't look like he was invincible to me, but if you think are, then go for it.
Had two compound fractures inflicted on me by an idiot who couldn't handle his Harley, can relate.

That pretty much ruined my 2021.

I'll keep calling him an idiot. The only reason he's alive is because he ran into me. Had I not been there, he would have run wide and slammed into a guardrail, or the big rocks just off the road, and most likely died. Unfortunately, he made it, though with tons of injuries. You won't be surprised to read he was wearing no gear apart from a half helmet (which was probably not even safety rated).

I'll say it goes both ways. Young kids with little experience riding way too aggressively for the surroundings. Then there are some that ride way too slow for the surroundings. I can't tell you how many times I've been driving out on some state roads and a Cruiser is riding 45/50 mph in a 55 zone. With about 10 cars lined up behind them.
Here is a funny story: I was with a group of guys down around Deals Gap. Some small town, we stopped for lunch. We were all dressed in gear, etc. This elderly lady came up to us and wanted to thank us for riding the speed limit or above. She said some of these riders ride sooo slow, they back up traffic and some of these people have places to go, appointments to get to, etc. We were ROTFL.
