Cooling issues

I have a 2015 with 15k miles that recently had some overflow coolant under it when I got to work. After work I started it let it warm up to check it and the HI temp showed up, I shut it off, waited for it to cool & rode it home on the highway with no issue until I stopped at home then again the HI temp came on. I thought it was the thermostat so I replaced per the dealers recommendation but when I checked the old in boiling water it opened. I put the new one in anyways since I had it, as I started it there was kind of a whining noise coming from the right side kinda down by the water pump housing. I don’t remember this weird sound before, but could a water pump go out at 15k? I got the bike up to temp hands kicked on at 225 (or so) bike cooled back down to 195 with no issues. Sorry for the long story but my question is about the water pump or any other ideas you might have. Thanks guys.

It's a problem.
Tuffy define "let it sit too long".
Additionally, what is the ambient temperature, what is the temperature behaviour when you ride at 50-60mph, and the ambient temperature then.

Reading material.........
Gen1 & 2 vs Gen 3+. Remember the new "feature" on the '13+ model years? If idling for 20 minutes the bike shuts off otherwise it'll overheat. Gen 1 & 2 didn't have that.

We’re talking like maybe 5-7 minutes

When I ride at 50-60 or really at any speed it doesn’t over heat at all, runs anywhere from 160-195 probably. If I stop at red lights it starts to climb & if it’s a long light like today I hit one I had to rev it up until the temp came back down. It was about 85 degrees today here if that’s what you were talking about with ambient temp.

Thanks, I didn’t know that & it did that yesterday it kind freaked me out but I started it right back up so I thought that might be a feature.

I think you're OK, sounds all kind of normal to me. Did you happen to notice the coolant temperature when the fans came on?

So why was it idling for 20 minutes?

I don’t think mine idled for that long when it shut down I wonder if it just got too hot, maybe I did lose track of time not 100% sure on that one.

I noticed this in the manual with my 4th Gen YZF. Only at idle, the stator doesn't keep up when the fans are running.
Does the FJR drop to battery voltage (or below) when the fans kick-in at idle RPM?
No idea, i don't often idle that long. I'll try to remember to plug in my voltage meter next time.
Well I put a new top me (eBay) radiator cap on, topped off the radiator, & the fans kick on at 221 & term starts going down shortly after so I think it’s been fixed, thanks for the help everyone.
