It's a problem.
We’re talking like maybe 5-7 minutesTuffy define "let it sit too long".
When I ride at 50-60 or really at any speed it doesn’t over heat at all, runs anywhere from 160-195 probably. If I stop at red lights it starts to climb & if it’s a long light like today I hit one I had to rev it up until the temp came back down. It was about 85 degrees today here if that’s what you were talking about with ambient temp.Additionally, what is the ambient temperature, what is the temperature behaviour when you ride at 50-60mph, and the ambient temperature then.

Temperature Guage
On all other bikes I have owned, the temperature gauge has been logical. On my 2021 ES, I notice the temp. runs 145 - 175 when cruising at highway speeds. It seems to jump all over within this range. On a hot day in stop and go traffic, the temp. can get up to nearly 220 which makes me...www.fjrowners.com

Temperature gauge
Picked up 2014 last weekend, but it's been too cold to ride until today. While riding, I noticed that temperature would climb slow to about 180-185F and would drop down fast to 135-140F, while still moving at same speed, before climbing again to about 180F. It was around 50F outside. Is this...www.fjrowners.com

Fluctuating Engine Temperature After Transmission Recall...
I've had my 2020 out for a few rides (3 actually) since having the transmission replaced and today for whatever reason I decided to monitor the engine temperature. Under steady throttle at (significantly above) highway speeds I noticed that the temperature gauge would read 85C and then within...www.fjrowners.com
Thanks, I didn’t know that & it did that yesterday it kind freaked me out but I started it right back up so I thought that might be a feature.Gen1 & 2 vs Gen 3+. Remember the new "feature" on the '13+ model years? If idling for 20 minutes the bike shuts off otherwise it'll overheat. Gen 1 & 2 didn't have that.
So why was it idling for 20 minutes? Thanks, I didn’t know that & it did that yesterday it kind freaked me out but I started it right back up so I thought that might be a feature.

Fans came on @ 219 degreesI think you're OK, sounds all kind of normal to me. Did you happen to notice the coolant temperature when the fans came on?
I don’t think mine idled for that long when it shut down I wonder if it just got too hot, maybe I did lose track of time not 100% sure on that one.So why was it idling for 20 minutes?
I noticed this in the manual with my 4th Gen YZF. Only at idle, the stator doesn't keep up when the fans are running.Gen1 & 2 vs Gen 3+. Remember the new "feature" on the '13+ model years? If idling for 20 minutes the bike shuts off ................. Gen 1 & 2 didn't have that.
