I replaced mine with stock OEM pads. The brakes on this thing are fantastic IMHO. I know you can farkle the thing 'til you are blue in the face, but I have found the stockers the best brakes I have ever had on a bike.
I am sure you will get other opinions that will help you spend more $$, but do they stop you any smoother or faster?

Have tried OEM, EBC and Carbone Lorraine pads and its the OEMs for me if possible.

Strange thing is that all 3 local Yam dealers stock the EBCs, but have to order in Yamaha ones.

Coppertop - Ride magazine did a test with OEM against EBC, carbon etc etc (yeah I know some will dis-credit but it is something to go on)

The test was on a Fazer 1000 and the OEM pads came out very highly (maybe even top, I can't remember).

So, taking that test as a bit of a guide - the OEM's are good enough for me.

Others have tried harder pads and improved braking somewhat BUT, they wore out their brake discs faster.
