Be careful with the master cylinder cap. I tried one before on another bike, and it made the cap leak fluid, even when I tightened the screws as much as I dared. Removed the RAM mount, and no more leaks.
Yours may have been an anomaly but note we may be talking about two different things. MCL cap mount vs RAM cap mount. Different parts completely.

MCL makes a master cyl. cap with a Ram ball on it. Puts the gps just to the side and above the gauges.
I have been using the MCL for several yrs and I like it. No leaks, no problems. Installation day pics:

On my '07 I have it hadlebar mounted but I changed up for the '13. See, I ride a lot at night and the indicating lights on the '13 are obnoxiously bright to me. I moved the gps to be stem nut mounted so I can use it to block out the lights at night.
