Anyone figured out how to mount a GPS above gauges

I have mine mounted on a RAM ball on my MV riser between the handle-bar bases. It is on a RAM arm, so it is just below my line of sight when looking at the gauges. It is almost like it is part of the cluster with the exception that the depth of my vision is different to focus on it. My peripheral vision has no problem keeping me safely in my lane or avoiding traffic changes ahead while glancing at it. I wouldn't tailgate aggressively while trying to change a route, etc, but typical safe riding procedures give me no issues using the device to guide me to my next exit, or to check my actual speed vs my speedometer, etc. I really don't think the flick of my eye position from the horizon to my gps is different than to my cluster, or would be improved if on a shelf. That's my experience.

If a shelf or the triple tree isn't to your liking, you're pretty well limited to bar mounts or fabricating your own mount. I could see using the 2 screws on the cover (either side of the gauges) to rig a light duty accessory bar, but haven't come across one myself. Good luck!

I use a Rambone I bought from someone on these forums. It mounts on top of the two front tank bolts. A search should discover the source. There is also Techmount, which mounts on top of the stem nut. With either of those, you could use short extensions to make it as high as you want. I also use a RAM ball mounted on the left mirror housing. There are unused threads for one under the black rubber cap. I prefer my GPS on the left for quick access, and my phone on a RAM X-Mount for charging.

Mine sits below the instruments on a mount off the stem nut. You will get used to it being there and able to focus on it and back to the road quickly in short time.
I mostly listen to the directions and dont look at the map anyway.

Get a life and ride the bike. Strewth!
Frigging plenty of posts around on how and where to mount them.
If you can't find it on a search engine it's never been done.
Or just drill through the dash. If ya desperate.

Thanks for the "kind" help. It was very "enlightening". :roll:

MCL makes a master cyl. cap with a Ram ball on it. Puts the gps just to the side and above the gauges.

Be careful with the master cylinder cap. I tried one before on another bike, and it made the cap leak fluid, even when I tightened the screws as much as I dared. Removed the RAM mount, and no more leaks.

I use a Rambone too. The GPS sits on about a 3" extension and the way I sit it's just below the instruments. I have to reach around it to turn the keep on and off. I need to lower my eyes to see it just a bit, but it's worked out well there.

Buy dash shelf from Scott, and you can safely mount any thing you like.

The dash shelf though they seem to all be gone for now but I have mine on a ram mount on my left handle bar. Plethora of choices

perhaps i am a voice in the wilderness of the tech age,but on a bike you are never lost!! it's about the experience.it's bad enough the amount of totally useless c**p they stick in a car!!! people can't even walk in a straightline these days without bumping into someone or thing. "Ludite" i maybe be,but, tech is causing heartache and stress worldwide.........relax and ride.......where best to fit it :laugh: :laugh: up your!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! well you finish the rest. :wink2:

I used a Migsel mount which also attaches to the tank bolts. Solid piece of engineering, comes with a RAM ball. With 2 RAM arms and a double ball joint to articulate you can pretty much position your GPS anywhere you want up front.
