G'Day , I have just had my ES rear shock serviced / rebuilt . It was leaking oil the bike has done 125000 K - 77600 miles . Has anyone replaced the std electronic rear shock with a aftermarket that's not electric and is there any issues with the std electric forks , will the bike throw error code and is there a way around it if it does .

Thanks regards Jacko in Australia .

Sorry Jacko, I don't know of anyone who has done it, and yes it would cause lots of error codes. Currently, lets say you get an error code for rear preload adjustment..... this locks you out of the suspension settings completely until fixed. I'd say ride her till you're done with it and try to find an A model.

Of no help to you, but that’s why I despise e-adj suspension - more stuff to fail, and limiting for modification.

Thanks for the replies , I'm ok for now the std shock has be repaired and fitted back on the bike , all suspension adjustments are working . I was just wondering if a shock that's not electric could be made to work without throwing codes . A new ES shock is out of the question they are worth more than the bike , $5K but I can't get one anyway , local dealer tells me there none in Australia or Japan . I did have a look at a couple of sites in the USA about the same price not including postage .
Regards Jacko
Damn, just checked a price on one of those. Over $4100 for a ES rear shock. That's insanity. Glad I got a A version.
There is no reason to buy a new one if the existing one can be serviced, and it sounds like that went well. I'm curious how much you paid for the overhaul of your shock? If you don't mind sharing?

I never intended to buy a new genuine shock , I just priced one for interest , I knew it would be a ridiculous price
It cost $430au to have mine serviced ,
I was just seeing if anyone had replaced a ES shock with a non genuine shock , incase this one leaks again ,

I checked a couple of US sites , price was $3400ish that worked out to more than $5000au , then there would be freight on top of that , I didn't bother to check if one was actually available .
There is a bit of a story why I bought this ES model , I have had 2 of the A models previous ,
I wouldn't buy a ES again
Can be rebuilt in the US by EPM............
