Tried to do the return spring mod, but couldn't get to it. The 06 has a heat shield in the way. Anybody found a way to get past this without wrecking it?

Need to reduce return tension ASAP! Thanks.

First, lift the front of the tank or remove it completely, up to you.

Remove the big T section frame brace under the tank, 3 bolts.

Unplug the 2 electrical connectors on the bottom of the tank.

Remove 1 plastic panel fastener which holds the heat shield to the top of the air cleaner box. Located at the top back of the heat shield.

Pull the electrical connectors which you previously removed back through the hole in the heat shield.

Gently flex the heat shield and remove it, being careful not to crease it.
There are 2 black plastic edging pieces attached to the sides of the shield, these can remain attached to the shield and will come away with it.

You may have to disconnect some EFI air hoses under the shield to get access to the throttle return spring.

The spring you want is located on the third throttle body, between the second and third bodies.

Good luck. :D
