Ok maybe not not Elect. shifter or vented Hot Air .. I found this compact Radar detector and wanted to be able to hook up very portable. because others would like my detector.. I Cut my access hole about 1/2 Inch to far left. and the 12 volt power plug hit the Mirror brace. too bad the hole was allready cut before I found this Oops.. It still worked fine after the Epoxy
made the install perm.. Now the detector is mounted on top of the Brake fluid container.. using indrustrial type Velcro. very good. After 800 miles it stayed where I put it.. I used a 10 amp fuse because that is all I needed but you may use a 20 amp if needed.. I had to cut the power plugs feet off to use it the way I planned. I took Pictures of the process so that you can see what I had. Here they are..

You do know that the BWM-style sockets (Jastek) require less clearance behind the panels and provide a better connection (handles more current and resists water and vibration better). Right?

Even if your device requires a cigar lighter plug and can't have it swapped for a Jastek plug, there are adapters available.

I only mention this because it was news to me back when we used to get our conntectors through John Deer. Ever since then, those plug/sockets have been my preference (for all those reasons).
