Just finished 05 cat extract. Will install PCIII tomorrow. I read in the old thread to unplug the o2 sensor.I plan to remove it altogether and plug the hole with a fitting. I didn't read of anyone eles doing this. Did I just miss it or is there a problem with doing this? Also will the stock map need to be changed ?
Thanks in advance , Larry

I have the PCIII, si far, love it! Others have them, same story. However, they do fail. Been known to happen! Happened to a friend of mine.

Totally recommend finding the plug, which is located under tank, right side, above vicinity of the sensor, and simply unplug. That way, if failure happens, you can simply replug the sensor, and unplug the PCIII from the harness, and be on the road again!

Here is Warchilds article on the O2:

and the PC install:

+1 leave the plugs available.

You can use the stock map, but there are a lot of opinions on using the other available maps.
bmwfjral, thanks for the tip. I never even considered failure of the unit. I was only thinking about asstedics.

Rabbit, Thank for the link. I'll take the laptop out to the garage for the install.

Thanks again for the info

Another thought, while others have gotten fancier than I. When I ran the negative to the battery, I also ran two 10 gauge wires back from the battery, along the right side, to the underseat area. I put eye ends on them same size as a battery's. I used bicycle innertubes and nylon ties for insulation. Now I have my heated jackets, burglar alarm, and "Battery Tender" all plugged in there.

PCIII is installed. Did it twice. After first install I decieded to move the unit back under the pillion seat. Good idea on the Leads. I'll install my remote garage door opener That way. The battery tender is already in. bmwfjral,I took your advice and reinstalled the 02 sensor. Be my luck mine will give up a long way from home. Murphy loves me :( ! Good to have opitions.
