RaYzerman I'll just throw in that I've heard a couple of FJR's with the TB's... they are obnoxious and annoying, but that's just my opinion.

What don't you like about the sound? Did you expect them to be louder? I was unimpressed with the sound when the dB killers were in place. I love the sound with the dB killers removed - nice and deep without being obnoxiously loud. But then I know that it's all subjective.

fast318 Thanks zwartie! I'm out of town so I can't look now. When I looked inside the can before, I saw a threaded inset but no screw. It doesn't look like there's anything I can remove. I wonder if the db killer was already removed? I'll post a pic when I get back to town.

There's a small set-screw that you should be able to see inside the end of the dB Killer. It's secured by a small bead of weld that can be easily removed using a Dremel cutting wheel. Takes about 30 seconds or less to cut the weld. Then loosen the screw and the dB Killer just slides out the end. It's really that easy. Let me know if you have any other questions or need me to post pics. By the way, I love the sound! No annoying drone at highway speed - at least not for me :-)

I've been wanting more rumble/noise out of my Akrapovic's and would like to remove the db killers and see if I like that before I go towards Two Brothers. Can u give me more info how to remove the db killers and can they be put back in if I don't like the sound? Any drone at cruising speed?

RaYzerman So you're on the rag now? You know of course, the rags are there so you can pull them out and shine those Yoshi's, which then will reduce drag for fuel mileage and have the side effect of making you look so Darned Kool. I hope your trip to AL is a good one and you get to hang out with other Kool people.

Redfish Regarding re-mapping and performance increases and more power and more efficiency...

According to the Yamaha website my new to me FJR/Yoshimura cans provide:

22.85% Weight Reduction and Improved Performance!

Since I am already burning through rear tires much faster than I want I have had to find some way to cut back on all this newly discovered power. I have decided to stuff old rags inside the air intake to limit the air flow. This helps keep the front tire on the ground and keep the rubber on the rear tire. I could just rely on my right wrist and the traction control or even stay in Touring Mode but I prefer using the rags. That way I can tell folks that I always keep it in Sport Mode, that lets them know that I am Awesome. Since I will be in Alabama this weekend I can tell folks that the rags are my version of Nascar Restrictor Plate Racing.

It is Very Important to me that my 640+ pound FJR with roughly 125 HP at the rear wheel might get a 0.037264 % increase in HorsePower from these mufflers. That coupled with the HUGE 22.85% weight reduction will really make a difference on my next ride.

The ecu (FJR/FI) should be remapped, whether with the use of a Power Commander or remapping the actual ecu itself. Most any good motorcycle mechanic worth his weight would agree. Besides, I'm a firm believer of changing inadequate factory mapping on performance machines, whether cars, trucks or moto's. In the case of the FJR, remapping its ecu has proven to be greatly successful, creating a much smoother more linear power band, and even a little bit more power. Who doesn't want that? I know I sure do!
