Agave Reading along here..
I'm the fortunate receiver of the screw in the rear tire of my 2009.
Current tires are Dunlop Road Smart units.
Installed by prior owner.
I did notice some weird tread patterns on the front one.
Decided to give the PR5GT a try.
Got the rear mounted and next awaiting the front to be mounted.
Will have to await the results as I've decided to do the lube maintenance while its apart.
I'll reply after reassembly

.
+1 for Rich's Yamaha in Lockport

I bought my 2016 FJR from there, great people to do business with.

I recently had a voice of 4's or 5's. Went with the 4's because there were so many good reviews for them.
I've been very happy with the 4's thus far.

justacrossthehill There's been a set of PR5's on my FZ1 for 4k miles and they're doing and looking great. It's my opinion that if front tires are properly balanced at the time of installation, no funky wear patterns will ever start and the life of those tires will be as expected. Once the cupping starts, there's no stopping it.
I may try those balance beads next time. Anyone used those?

I too like Michelin’s words but experience with the Road 5 says the PR4 is the better tire. That no longer trust what Michelin is saying. But this is something you should find for yourself. Seems there are two extremes, those who get excellent service form their Road 5, and those who are greatly disappointed. As if there are 2 different tires being sold.

moparman70 I have just bought the Road 5 GT rear for my 2014 -- it had a Bridgestone rear on it -- it might have been the original I don't know and if so it went 10K -- it may have gone a little longer but I pick up something and it ran flat on me from a hole in the tread. Based on what I read on this thread it seemed the way to go

Bill Lumberg I wish theyd do another rebate. Really liking my set. Going to probably order another set of 5GTs for garage stock. Depending upon how long they last.
