Yellow check engine light - displays 11 on LCD
First post here. Please forgive me if the answer to this question has already been answered - i've spent a lot of time searching with no luck.
I have a 2004 with about 32,000 miles on the clock. I've never ever had any issues with it until I got it out of the garage for the first time this spring. While riding one day a few weeks ago, the CEL (check engine light) came on briefly then went away. I didnt think much of it since it went away right away. I thought it couldve just been stale gas or something from sitting all winter. Unfortunately the light came back on the next time I started it and stayed on.
Next step was google. I noticed that when I turn my key on and before I start the bike I get an "11" on the LCD. From what I understand there is a difference between error codes and diagnostic codes - is this correct? I entered diagnostic mode and tried to look up what code I might be having on there, but all I see is "00" under section 61. I was expecting to see a code here from what I've read.
What does 11 on the LCD mean? Is that the same as error code 11 that Ive seen listed as "Cylinder Identification Sensor" issues? If so, does anyone have any information on swapping that out (or even where to buy one). I've looked on bike bandit and other places and cant seem to even find the sensor, let alone anyone who has ever needed to replace theirs.
My symptoms are as follows:
Cold start: completely normal
Warm start: normal
Idle: while it is warming up, it idles great. Once it is up to temp, it seems to stumble around quite a bit and idles rough. Seems like it is misfiring to some extent.
Riding: mostly normal with some surging while at steady throttle. When changing gears however (letting off the throttle in between gears) the rpms drop exceedingly fast. Sometimes they drop so fast that the bike quits all together and a restart is needed.
Any help with this is very much appreciated, thanks in advance! Please let me know if I left out any crucial information
