2013 Check Engine Light Intermitten

So just wheeled in to Hurricane Utah and as soon as the air temp hit 100 degrees my check engine light decides to give me a heart attack and light up intermittently. Bikes running fine, 170-180 coolant temp, fluids good. Has just over 17K on it. Left service manual back in Indiana so no way to check for info. Any ideas?

Go to DIAG mode, by turning bike off. Hold both the tcs and reset buttons, turn bike on and continue holding buttons for 8-12 seconds until right dash changes. Release buttons, then hold them down for 2 more seconds until you are in DIAG mode. Use the tcs and reset buttons to cycleto code 61.

On code 61, if 00 is displayed then no fault was recorded. If there is a number, post it here and i will look it up in the fsm. If multiple codes appear, they will repeat, make sure you get all of them.

19 - Sidestand switch, a break or disconnect on the black/red lead of the ecu is detected.

14 - Intake air pressure sensor, hose system malfunction (clogged or detached hose)

With these 2 codes, i would continue riding until i got home unless the check engine light was on steady.

To check the intake air pressure sensor, go back to Diag mode and navigate to code 03. The display will show the intake air pressure.

Shift the transmission into gear, extendthe sidestand and then operate the throttle while pressing the starter button. If the display value changes, the performace is ok.

Thanks Steve, you a life saver!! Had trouble with sidestand switch before after a wash. Wonder if going from above 8000 feet to below 5000 feet in a short time on I15 though the intake pressure switch for a loop?

To check the sidestand switch, navigate to diag code 20.

Place the transmission in gear. The display will read 'ON' with the stand retracted and 'OFF' with the stand extended.

I doubt this is the problem, because the engine should stop if running in gear and the sidestand is not retracted.

Just a suggestion, erase the existing fault history and see if something comes back on your trip.

To do this, go to Diag code 62, move the kill switch to off then back to on.

This should erase the codes, verify by going to diag 61 and verify that 00 is displayed. This should delete the previous 2 codes that you found.

Your elevation change could explain the intake pressure. Good luck!
